Update: Elliott tweets that he’s at the airport! “Guess where I’m at yall?…..THE AIRPORT!!…never thought I’d c 1 again..wish I cld stay 4 the benefit concert 2mrrw, but I have gig on sat”

Ryan Seacrest interviewed Elliott Yamin this morning on his KIIS FM LA radio show, and it looks like one of Ryan’s connections may be able to get Elliott on a flight back home. Check out the details here:

Elliott says press reports regarding his health situation have been exaggerated, and that hes got enough insulin to last him another 6 days.

Update from Elliott: “man, situation is grim here!..we truly are in a disaster zone!..just like we always c on the news in the states.no flghts available anywhere.” Elliott’s brother Scott tweeted that E is OK on his insulin supply until he gets back to the states…(Elliott is Type 1 diabetic)

Elliott Yamin spoke to MSNBC today from Santiago, Chile about Friday night’s earthquake in Chile. Elliott was in Vina Del Mar for a music festival when the 8.8 earthquake hit.

Elliott and his fellow festival participants were bused from Vina Del Mar to Santiago yesterday, and, Elliott says, the festival officials are working on getting them all home.

Sitting at his computer at the time of the quake, Elliott was able to tweet some of the first reports from the disaster. News outlets soon picked them up, and Elliott has been busy doing television interviews ever since.

There have been many aftershocks since Friday night, the latest about 1 hour ago, “tremmmmmors as i am typing..early this morn, there was pretty big aftershock!!..the entire entire room was swaying back & forth!”

Scary stuff! Stay safe Elliott. Thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Chile.

An 8.8 magnitude Earthquake hit chile last night. Idol, Elliott Yamin is in Vina Del Mar for a music festival, about 90 miles southwest of the epicenter, about 90 miles from Santiago, and is safe thank god. He’s been posting updates from his twitter account.  An interview Elliott taped for NBC news is set to go live at around 8 am.  I’ll be posting that right here shortly.

Elliott is a Type 1 diabetic, and he’s only packed enough insulin until Sunday. His blood sugar is really high right now, so that’s a worry for him. He says the airport is reduced to rubble, so he might be stuck there for awhile.

devastation Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!….I swear I thought this was the end of my life!!!!!

Fuck!!!!!! I take it all back everybody!!….I just escaped w my life,from an 8.3 earthquake!!!…is everybody ok?…where was the epicener?

Being a celebrity means you get a lot of free stuff.

In the days before big events like the Grammys, there are afternoon gifting parties, where celebrities show up, get their picture taken with products, and then leave with some lovely parting gifts.

Elliott Yamin posted an update on his fan board the ETrain a few days ago. Here’s what Elliott has coming up in the near future:

• Elliott is booking a tour for January-February ‘” northeast to midwest to west coast to southwest to southeast. It looks like he’ll be kicking off at the Birchmere in DC on Jan. 2. (A Jan. 1 date at the Highline Ballroom in NYC has been canceled, for some reason.)

• Also in the pipeline: a live, acoustic EP that will include “B-sides and maybe a song or two.” He hopes to have it ready by early 2010. (acoustic Elliott…Yay!)

• Plus, Elliott will play his first South American gig at a music festival in Chile in February, and in March he’ll be heading back to Angola to do charity work for the orphanage he visited a couple of years ago and an anti-malaria initiative, this time backed by Exxon Mobil cash.

Idol news in a nutshell, ya’ll

A newly blonde Katharine McPhee twitters excitedly about her upcoming single, debuting next week, “My brand new single, Had It All, debuts in 5 days!” That’s Tuesday August 25, so mark your calendar. No deets yet on how “Had it All” will be unveiled, but Kat says to stay tuned. She shot the music video yesterday, 8/19… ETA: Kara DioGuardi sings a song by the same name HERE. She wrote it with David Hodges. It’s possibly Katharine’s single.

Also unveiling new music next week? Phil Stacey who is set to release his second album, a Christian/Gospel effort, Into The Light, on Tuesday August 25. Phil has a brand-new website HERE. He’ll be celebrating the release at a concert Friday at Westlink Christian Church, in Witchita, KS.

Ruben Studdard will try his hand at film acting when he takes on the role of a minister in the first independent film project to qualify for financial incentives from the Alabama Film Office. The film, Lifted, began shooting on 8/17. Ruben plays a minister who befriends Henry, the lead character.

David Archuleta is leaving the road sooner than he planned.   Disney canceled the last 3 shows of his tour opening for Demi Lavato, due to the always mysterious “scheduling conflicts.”   But don’t worry, the shows scheduled for Atlantic City, Providence RI and Manchester NH have been rescheduled for late October.
