Fantasia Performs Her New Single ‘Even Angels’ On Oprah

Fantasia appears on the Oprah show today, and here she is,  performing her new single “Even Angels”.   I’m sure there was a sit down with Oprah–as soon as that video is available, I’ll post it here.

I’m not all that crazy about pop Fantasia–I like her all wild and crazy. But, I can’t begrudge her a chance at a pop hit, which this pretty ballad could give her. Yeah, it’s a little generic, but I’m hearing hit potential. What do you think?

ETA: Watch Oprah’s interview with Fantasia in two parts after the jump. And if you haven’t yet, check out her performance of her new single,  “Even Angels”.

The producers of The Color Purple, including Oprah, weren’t happy when Fantasia began missing shows near the end of her Broadway run. At the time, Fantasia was not communicating with anybody about her health and family problems. Now that Oprah understands what Fantasia was dealing with, all is forgiven. Interesting to hear them both talk openly about what they were feeling at the time.

Also, got another look at Fantasia’s performance of her single “Even Angels” on my TV, and although I’m not crazy about the song, Fantasia got to me when she teared up at the end of her performance… (Fantasia can elevate any song, even her crappy coronation single, which became transcendent in her hands…)

You can catch Fantasia’s reality show Fantasia For Real on VH1.

Fantasia Releases Single, ‘Even Angels’, Set For Wednesday’s Oprah

Fantasia’s new single, “Even Angels” premiered on her VH1 reality show, Fantasia For Real, last night and is now available for download on iTunes and Amazon.

“Even Angels” is a nice ballad, but I much prefer Fantasia when she’s all fierce and funking it up. But what do I know? This song could become a hit.

Fantasia is set to appear on the Oprah show on Wednesday (Feb 3) so expect her to move quite a few units this week!

Check out the single here:

Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson Set to Perform Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Party

THR’s Robert Friedman reports that Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson are set to perform at Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy Party Saturday night (Jan 29) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Ballwroom in Los Angeles.

What I can tell you exclusively is that Mary J. Blige as well as the Black Eyed Peas will perform for Universal Music’s Doug Morris, who’s being honored for his Lifetime Achievement by the Grammys at this party. Morris, like Clive, is one of the last real music men. His UMG is a towering success.

Also set for performances are Jennifer Hudson, Kesha, and Carrie Underwood, and Maxwell.

Also Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas are set to perform their new cover version of Eric Clapton’s “Sunshine of Your Love” from Santana’s forthcoming album of covers.

Clive’s party became an official part of the Grammy festivities last year. But even in its un-official capacity, it was one of the go-to events of the Grammy weekend. Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry and Fantasia have performed at Clive’s party in the past.

The Grammy Awards will air Sunday at 8 pm on CBS. Carrie and Jennifer will be part of a special tribute to Michael Jackson. Carrie, Kelly Clarkson, Mandisa, Ruben Studdard and Trenyce are all nominated for awards.

Fantasia: Frank Interview Discusses Her Business, Family, New Record

This AP interview with Fantasia Barrino is long, but it’s worth a listen. She talks frankly about the business partners she feels abandoned her, the family members who’ve taken advantage of her, and the brand-new record she’s working on.

She admits to not taking care of business like she could have–she trusted the wrong people, allowed family members to bleed her dry, and failed to question or stick up for herself like she should have.

On Monday, January 11,   Fantasia’s new VH1 reality show, Fantasia For Real, debuts at 10 PM, and she hopes the show will cut through the gossip that’s dogged her this past year and set the record straight.

Of course, the problem is that reality shows, edited for maximum entertainment value,   rarely cut to the truth.   Hopefully Fantasia gets the fun edit rather than the crazy edit, and that the waters aren’t muddied any further by VH1.

No matter what she thinks, she’s got no control over any of it. I’d hate to see Fanty betrayed one more time…

David tweeted back, “everyone check out @ClaudeKelly> Rad dude. yep, I said it. RAD. DUDE. ”

Kelly is mostly known for working with pop artists like Christina Aguilara, Britney Spears (“Circus”), Kelly Clarkson (“Since U Been Gone” and “My Life Would Suck Without You”) and recently, Adam Lambert (“For Your Entertainment”).

Kelly’s recent hit is “Party in the USA” for Miley Cyrus. So, I’m curious to see what kind of work Kelly produces with Cook, the rocker.

Kelly recently tweeted from a session with Season 3 Idol winner, Fantasia.   Her album is set to be released March 2010. David’s album is scheduled for   some time next year.

A New Single and Album in 2010 From Fantasia

Season 3 American Idol, Fantasia, says she’s be releasing a single in January and an album in March 2010 in an interview with The Times and Democrat ahead of a performance Friday evening (Nov 20) at the 16th Annual Presidential Scholarship Gala at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Fantasia parted with 19M as her personal management in 2008, but is 19R/J-Records still her record label? You’d think there would be a little advance publicity ahead of an album coming out in March.

Update: Fantasia is still listed on J Records website. Still find the lack of publicity around her new album really odd.

According to Fantasia’s Wikipedia entry, she’s collaborating with the Midi Mafia, hip hop duo Rock City, songwriter/vocal producer/ arranger Rich King (Brandy “1st in Love”), KP, Eric Hudson and Raphael Saadiq on her next album. Fantasia has also reportedly invited a live orchestra to record in the studio with her. A couple of sources HERE and HERE.
