Idols Performing tonight (and appearing on the red carpet): Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson. Adam Lambert is set to close the show.

Presenting tonight: Kris Allen with Demi Lovato, Paula Abdul, Ryan Seacrest, and Leona Lewis, plus, Kelly Osbourne and Donny Osmond from Dancing with the Stars.

Carrie Underwood hit the red carpet tonight (Nov 22) for the 2009 CNN Heroes Awards. Carrie will be performing a special orchestral arrangement of   “Change” from her new album Play On.

Leona Lewis and Maxwell will also be singing on the program.   Idol judge, Randy Jackson, will appear as a presenter.

The top CNN Hero of the Year and a grant of $100,000 went to Efren Penaflorida, who rejected gang life and embraced education for himself and other Filipinos as an escape from poverty. He and the other honorees received $25,000 each.

The CNN Heroes Awards will be televised on CNN, November 26.

UPDATE: Hits has revised their original prediction up to 85-90k

Industry mag, Hits Daily Double one-day sales predictions are in, and the news ain’t great for Kris Allen, who is predicted to sell between 75-80K his first week out.

Those numbers would make him the Idol winner with the lowest first week sells, taking the crown away from Jordin Sparks, who sold 119K her first week.

Here’s how the week will shake out, according to HHD

John Mayer – 275k-300k
Norah Jones – 150k-160k
50 Cent – 140k-150k
Casting Crowns – 140k-150k
Andrea Bocelli – 140k-150k
Justin Bieber – 110k-120k
Kris Allen – 75k-80k – 85-90k
Leona Lewis – 60-65k

Note Simon Cowell’s X Factor protege, Leona Lewis isn’t exactly busting up the charts either…

• Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder
• Miley Cyrus and Sheryl Crow

The Jordin Sparks/Martina McBride duet looks like it could be interesting. Jennifer and the legendary Stevie Wonder! She must be pinching herself. Epic! (Is Stevie Wonder a Diva? Heh). I can’t wait for Kelly and Melissa to rip it up. Perhaps Cyndi Lauper can help wring a little emotion out of the bland Leona Lewis. And Miley and Sheryl? A big fat MEH from me…
