via the LA Times:

Scott MacIntyre will return to the “Idol” stage on March 11 to sing the song “Heartstrings,” off his album of the same name, which is being released that day.

We hear that Matt Giraud, fellow Season 8 finalist, will be singing with Scott, but it won’t be the song “Heartstrings.”

Fred Bronson of  @IdolsNow reports that the duo will be duet singing Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It”.

I guess Idol producers are making up for cutting the number from the Season 8 Idol finale!

Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud are doing the satellite interview thing this morning–both are involved with and promoting the new Oreo Cakesters jingle contest.

It goes like this: Write the winning jingle, and you’ll get to meet Matt and Anoop, and maybe get your jingle played on the radio. More info here. Pretty lulzworthy stuff!

Plus, Matt tells the Grand Rapids peeps that he was very excited to run into Andrew Garcia and a few of the other Season 9 guys at an LA mall recently… (they even took a photo!)

Matt Giraud performed at the Grand Rapids Griffins Hockey game in Van Andel arena last night.

Sitting at the electric keyboard, he rocked out on a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason” and an original tune, “I Miss You Tonight”.

Matt tweeted this morning, “Sang my own song “I Miss You Tonight” for 10,000 people last night. It was quite a feeling and I’ll never forget it. Thx to all who came”

Matt Giraud was interviewed today on WZZM 13 TV in Grand Rapids. Matt mentioned he will appear on AI this season. He also performed a totally kick-ass version of Hard to Handle…accompanying himself on guitar! (he says he’s only been playing for a couple of years)

In other Matt news, he tweeted that he completed recording all his new music yesterday with Sweet Japonic for a demo CD and possible EP. He is performing at a Griffins Hockey game tomorrow night, and his April concert, at the Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, is nearly sold out already.

Next, Jason Castro’s jaunty single, “Let’s Just Fall in Love Again” is used as backdrop in the latest Overstock.com commercial (I was watching CNN today, and was pleasantly surprised when it popped up on my TV screen…)

And Matt Giraud and Anna Wilson take you behind the scenes during the making of their single, “You Don’t Know Me”.

Lastly, Scott MacIntyre premiers his new single, “Heart Strings” on the brand new iPhone app, IdolsNow.

Matt Giraud is in Grand Rapids Michigan today, getting ready for a sold-out concert taking place tonight at the Forest Hills School Fine Arts Center at 7:30.  Matt and jazz singer Anna Wilson will duet on their new single “You Don’t Know Me”.

The tune was released to iTunes Wednesday night and quickly hit #1 on the iTunes jazz chart.

“You Don’t Know Me” will appear on Anna Wilson’s upcoming duets album.

This week’s Idol Appearances include a busy day in Toronto for Adam Lambert Monday, plus, the Ellen DeGeneres birthday show, featuring Adam performing “Strut” on Tuesday.

Katharine McPhee appears on Chelsea Lately and fellow Season 5 contestant, Ayla Brown (and daughter of new US Senator Scott Brown) performs on the CBS Early show on Tuesday to promote her new album.

Brooke White is a judge on the Miss America pageant, airing on TBS, and Matt Giraud debuts his new single in a Grand Rapids concert,  Saturday night.

And, on Sunday, it’s the Grammy Awards featuring Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson participating in a tribute to Michael Jackson, and Adam Lambert on the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight.  Carrie, Kelly Clarkson, Mandisa, Ruben Studdard and Trenyce are nominated for awards.

Don’t forget:  Wednesday’s American Idol in Dallas featuring Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris has been moved back to 8/7c pm to accommodate President Obama’s State of the Union address.

A duet with jazz singer, Anna Wilson, this cover of the classic Ray Charles tune will be available for digital download on January 29.  Later that day, Matt and Anna will debut the song LIVE at a special concert appearance in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Matt has been a busy guy–writing songs  in Nashville, TN with the likes of JT Harding, Jerry Flowers and Marcus Hummon.

The clip sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? The song will appear on Anna Wilson’s upcoming duets album.

Danny Gokey continuing his his radio tour this week, stopped by 95 WKSJ FM in Pensacola, FL.  During the interview, the DJ debuted a new song from upcoming album, My Best Days, (set to be released March 2.)

It’s called “I Will Not Say Goodbye”,  and it’s a tune that Danny’s been singing live on recent radio station gigs.

According to his official site, Kris Allen will play the Zirca Nightclub in Singapore on February 10. He’ll already be in that part of the world–Kris is set to play two dates in the Philippines on Feb 5 and Feb 6. For more info, check out the Idol Appearances Page.

The big Ryan Seacrest “Rock My Town” radio event, scheduled for Feb 12, featuring Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta will likely take place at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. So much for secret locations…

Adam Lambert will be in the studio with Ryan Seacrest tomorrow morning at 7:30 pst. You can listen at 102.7 Kiis FM, according to @NegativeNatalie…

Band member Longineau just tweeted, “Getting ready to go and do Ellen today…we are going to rock a new song.”

Michael Johns, Brooke White, Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre performed at the sixth annual Drive the Dream Gala benefit last night (Jan 16) for Childhelp.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect.

Proceeds of the fundraiser will go to Childhelp programs and services in Arizona.

On last night’s Boston audition episode, the judges behaved as if they were meeting Idol hopeful, Justin Williams for the first time, when in fact, he made it to Hollywood Season 8.

Fantasia’s new VH1 reality series, Fantasia For Real and Adam Lambert’s On the Record with FUSE both premiere tonight   (plus FUSE will be airing Idol videos all night, capping with an airing of the so-bad-it’s-good From Justin to Kelly at 11 pm.)

Adam Lambert also appears on the VH1 Critics Choice Movie Awards on Friday.

On Saturday, Scott MacIntyre, Matt Giraud, Brooke White and Micheal Johns perform at a benefit for Childhelp.org in Scottsdale, AZ.

And, don’t forget, American Idol Season 9 premiers on Tuesday January 12 at 8 pm.   The 2-hour premiere features Boston and guest judge Victoria Beckham.   On Tuesday, the 90 minute show feature Atlanta and Mary J. Blige as guest judge.   Check out the schedule HERE.
