Taylor Hicks Album Pushed Back To March, Will Appear On Idol Next Season

Taylor Hicks and the touring company of Grease are in Columbus, OH, where the show will run through Sunday.

He talks about his role as Teen Angel in the show, plus his new album and the new season of American Idol in an interview with local radio station, Mix 97.1.

His album release has been pushed back from February to early March, and once it drops, he plans to appear on American Idol next season to promote it.

Taylor wrote a track for his debut album with new judge Kara DioGuardi and thinks she’s going to be a good judge on Idol.

Not real surprised the CD got moved back a bit, not uncommon in the music biz at all.

Try as they might, they just can’t get the man to say anything nasty about anyone. He’s just a southern gent who believes in that karma wheel. I hope he does appear on idol this season with a new song.

Heeey cool Taylor nice interview. I am anxiously awaiting the CD and his return to the Idol stage. Thanks for the link.

    Will he really…

  • abbysee:

Say what you will about Taylor, he’s a great damn interview. He’s genuine, he’s cool as hell. I love his southern charm. I love how he can be truthful about the show, and not be all sunshine and rainbows at the same time. I hope he will be on the show. I can’t wait for his cd.

Kara and and Idol appearance?? Color me shocked!

  • CRB:

Taylor’s shtick worked on Idol but he always comes across in interviews as a decent enough guy. I think he is right about Grease being a good way to let fans see him and, of course, make some money between albums.

  • hickifino:

Good to hear Taylor’s plans for the immediate future – tour with Grease, new album in March, and an appearance on American Idol. Nice to see him looking so trim and handsome.

Hurray for the positive press. And an AI appearance. Cool!

  • Good interview. Taylor was relaxed, friendly, informative, and fun — it was pretty cool to see the way he handled the “morning zoo” type of DJs. I’m impresed with the way he was able to evade an invitation to make a controversial comment — especially about Paula Goodspeed and the AI judges.

    Thanks for the link.

Great to hear Taylor sounding happy and being interviewed by people that actually seem informed about him. Wow – never never expected Idol to invite him back – that will be great if it really happens. Guess Kara is his bud. I can’t wait to hear his new music!

  • hicksaholic:

I am thrilled (and surprised) he will be on AI. It really has been dull without him IMO.

  • spanishfan:

So thrilled to hear that he will perform on Idol but as you all say, very surprised. I love Taylor and always will and just waiting to buy his new album.

  • calimari:

I’m also surprised he’s appearing on Idol, but pleased. I’ve looking forward to the new CD – with the musicians he has from McCartney & Clapton, I think it will be much better than the last. I met Taylor after the Grease show last week & he was just nice as can be – although he couldn’t believe we were all standing outside in the cold for him. And he is skinny – when I put my arm around him for a photo I was thinking “he’s just a little guy”.

  • The reviews by theatre critics in RI, MI, and now Ohio about Taylor’s performances from the Grease tour have been overwhelming positive — relative to both his voice and his fun portrayal as Teen Angel in the play. This is particularly interesting and gratifying since in some cases, the critics didn’t seem very impressed with the play itself but still made positive remarks about Taylor.

Is this the grey haired guy who won a few years back??????? I always thought he was good——shame he didn’t hit the BIG TIME,,,,but I still like him.

  • Grammie Kari:

This will be a well-deserved appearance on Idol after virtually ignoring him. I have always liked Taylor and look forward to his new CD.
