Nicole attended Grease last weekend, on Broadway, featuring Taylor Hicks as the Teen Angel. She sent me some pictures and a short recap. Enjoy!
Last weekend I went to NY and got to see Grease on Broadway featuring Taylor. He plays the Teen Angel singing “Beauty School Dropout”….He was AMAZING…The guy is just so talented. Ok now, I absolutely love this movie, one of my favorites and to see my favorite American Idol in it that I can hardly find the right words to explain how happy I was ! I got to see the show sitting next to some wonderful Soul Patrol ladies from the AOL Idol board Kel, Suzie, Mags, Lindabird and Aggie ! That was an extra bonus. They are all wonderful women and we had a blast watching.
Anyway, the show was fairly quiet where people just clapped at the end of each scene, but when Taylor came out the crowd went crazy with clapping, shouting “TAYLOR” and woooing lol.. I got goosebumps and teary eyed :) He was hilarious with his little faces and expressions and he definitely sang it all well. He played that lovely harmonica well too. At the end of the show he came back out and sang and danced with the rest of the cast lol, he held his own, LOVED IT !!! I didn’t get to take pics cause people’s heads were in the way and he moved so fast that we missed him while he was getting in his limo.
If you have not seen it and have a chance, TAKE IT !!! You will love it !!

Thanks for the review, how I’d love to see Grease, especially with Taylor in it. I’m a big David Cook fan this year but my first love will always be Taylor. I see his picture or listen to him singing and I just feel happy, can’t explain it.

Maybe the limo was double parked, he had to leave in a hurry or the cops told him not to clog the sidewalk. Those are the only reasons I can think of why he couldn’t be bothered to stop for five minutes and sign some autographs. If anyone needs to cater to the fans, it’s Taylor. Rushing past them to get to the limo - not a good idea.
Glad you had fun Nicole! I’ve seen so many really nice comments about Taylor’s performance in this show. Thanks for sharing with those of us who won’t be able to see it in person.
Looks to me like he’s signing an autograph in the second pic. He’s stopped, even in the rain to sign every show, so, I don’t think that’s what she meant.
jpfan, from everything I’ve read, Taylor has been especially acommodating to fans after the shows, posing for pictures and signing autographs until all are satisfied. On the days when there are two shows -a matinee and an evening performance - there is little time between shows, so he is a little more rushed, but still stops to sign and pose.
Taylor looks very good. I’ve heard nothing but good stuff about Taylor and him being very accomodating to his fans who come to see him in Grease. Did I say, Taylor looks very good. LOL!
Members of the Grease Forum - who are family, friends and fans of the regular cast members - not Taylor - have all commented on what a nice guy he seems to be and how he spends as much time as is needed to sign all the playbills and pose for pics. There’s video of him signing more than one playbill for each person, and security stopped that, saying it was taking too long and he’d only sign one thing per person. The crowd had spilled out into the street and was interfering with traffic.
When I was there, he stayed out and signed something for everyone who asked. The crowd was definitely there to see Taylor, but they were polite. (It was mostly a regular theater crowd with a couple of SPers thrown in.)

That’s exactly what he does to me and a lot of others apparently. I’ve never responded that way to an entertainer before. I can’t figure out why.

Those pics above are from Mags another Soul Patroller who was at the show with me, but she was on the other side…If I was on the other side, I probably could have gotten good pics and an autograph….But I did get to actually meet him when he came to Ga. He gave mea hug, a pic and an autograph so I’m definitely happy about that ! If I could afford the time off to go back and see him again on Broadway, I definitely would. Does anyone know if there will be DVD’s of the Broadway show we can order ?
Thanks for posting Taylor’s pics and for the recap. It must have been fun. I did get to enjoy Taylor’s Teen Angel performance from “Grease” on Regis & Kelly’s show. Thought it was great.
As others have said, Taylor’s enthusiasm for whatever he’s doing is infectious!
Nice pictures and sounds like Taylor is being received well on Broadway, thats great. He is such a nice guy or seems to be and a great entertainer and singer…wish I lived close enough to attend the show.
