I’d say the only difference is that Adam has Broadway to fall back on. If Adam (or Allison) doesn’t move units, they’ll get dropped, just like any other Idol who didn’t meet TPTB’s expectations

I suspect for example Jordin’s #2 album is going to do even better than her first album because she was able to take more time.

I’m listening to it now as I type. No offense to Rickey, but it sounds horrid. Cell phone technology obviously wasn’t designed to transmit live concerts. If anyone used this “music” as an example of Idol talent, the contestants and the show would be finished!

MJ, I have to agree. this is my first year really following Idol but I can’t see how anyone could end up with a great album considering the way these AI albums get put together — so many commenting masters, having to work on the album when not touring (a day here and there), and putting together original material in a couple of months.

I can’t see how any of them can focus on creative collaboration.

I guess I can hope for a miracle or two. But I will guarentee one thing both Adam and Kris will have at least one song that is better then NoBo.

I don’t know. I’m a writer and I know, when you are flying by the seat of your pants and letting it all happen, that’s when it’s magic. When you start over-thinking and over-producing, that’s when you start questioning yourself and get bogged down.

It’s not comparable. Writing is a solitary effort. Recording an album is collaborative, and there are many, many fingers in the pies here.

Red One is good. Chemistry between producer and artist is also important. Once there is the meeting of the minds, then the rest should be fast.

Creative suffers when on over thinks and over analyze. I am in the advertising industry and we see this always happening in commercial creative development. Client always 2nd guess what the consumers wants and viola, they want everything in the material. This should not happen.

Yes, yes, yes. I can listen to these songs the whole day. For those who think that Adam’s music are not for radio airplay, they just have to listen to all these materials to realize that his songs are for radio airplay.

I apologize for not praising Adam for a boring page and a half before getting a little(overly) excited about Alli. No one on Idol is brilliant enough to put out a brilliant album in that short amount of time – IMHO.

I don’t think this is subjective. I wasn’t taking long term appeal, I meant they’re currently popular overseas and this can be taken advantage of. After all, their albums will be out in four months.

Main thing is, they’re doing amazingly well in foreign countries and I feel sort of proud of them.

Even if Adam’s CD’s aren’t huge sellers (difficult in today’s economy), his tours should be hugely popular. An industry exec said that is what Adam needs, because he is such a visual artist. I’ve already told my hubs to expect to go to Adam’s concerts when he starts his solo tour. I’m wondering if he is going to kick start it in October for the Zodiac show. Carmit B. mentioned that would their next show, and she wants Adam there.

I’ve tried pointing out that international popularity is subjective and too premature at this stage – for any idols at this stage. I believe that each idol has their own international popularity of some sort, and anybody could also potentially achieve international popularity. It’s a big world out there, and different people have different musical taste, and who knows what would people from overseas latch on. For eg, the Beatles sounds deceptively simple, catchy English pop-rock, yet generated massive amounts of appeal. MJ’s music was catchy, kinda hip-hop/pop, and people from halfway across the globe who don’t understand English loved him. At this stage it’s apparently set in stone that “Adam = international superstar”, and woe for the other idols who weren’t fortunate enough to get that tag from Simon.

As far as I know, most Idol releases do make it to other countries, so I don’t see anything entirely special of Adam’s being a “world album”. Lady Gaga, Britney etc didn’t prepare exclusively for a “world album”, but their sales and popularity appealed to many people elsewhere and so their albums were also distributed worldwide.

And oh, the Kris and Allison’s sets look amazing. Matt too! Not very confident with Sarvers’s though. Can’t wait for the flood of youtube videos and cellcasts!

I also read somewhere that mad world is being played in Israel. He is jewish, so that could be a market for him as well. It is important that the RCA fall single/cD should really be good. This should define him as an artist.

Lastly, though we are fans and would like the best for him. We should also temper our expectations and reactions. Most of the time our reactions creates ripples on mass media which consequently affects the artists. We too should strategize on how to best help Adam reach his goal. Am i sounding like a nut case? Or is that the marketing person in me. LOL! Just very passionate about Adam. He he! After the finale, i swear that i will do my share of helping him reach his dream. *smiling like an idiot* Maybe that makes me a real nut case. LOL!

This is so true. Just listen to all his interviews. He doesn’t go into “duh..you know…i think…e…” And he really looks at the interviewer eye-to-eye. That’s why you see sincerity in all his interview. And the guy is witty! Thank god for that.

I really hope so. The reason why i got sucked into AI this year is Adam. Before this year, i was not an AI fan. Personally, when i saw Adam performed this year i knew i was a fan for life. I found in him an artist who has loads of talent, has a good fashion sense, has strong stage presence, intelligent, witty with charisma. A total entertainer. Though me and my friends would like to contribute to itune sales, we can’t. AI itunes are not available here. So i get my Adam fix online via youtube and via a bootleg CD. *sigh* Guilty of buying a copy. Just listened to his songs for 4 hours. *sigh again*.

I hope RCA really takes care of him. His position is so different from the rest. Talent alone will not catapult him to superstardom. It needs a good marketing strategy. RCA should have strong understanding of the market, especially in Asia.

Maybe that helps explain the speed with which his CD is coming together.

I think that a high percentage of major label albums get released overseas sooner or later. And in this case, AI is EXTREMELY popular in places like the Phillippines and Malysia’ ¦go on some of the other Idol fan sites and you will see a lot of overseas fans on there.

So I would think that Adam and Kris and Allison will all have their albums released overseas as well as in the US.

I just looked at this Malaysian station Hitz.fm’s Top 30, and Kris’s No Boundaries is currently at #2.

About a month ago they had a contest for fans to vote for Kris’s version vs. Adam’s, and Kris won 60%-40%, out of @500,000 votes. So yeah Kris also has international popularity, it would be dumb not to recognize it and I’m sure TPTB will.
