The Next Great American Band: Top 3 Spoilers!

After the JUMP Peoples!

Light of Doom was eliminated.  See ya later, metal tots!

Caffiend made it to the taping, but just barely, she’s really sick.  She didn’t take notes, but this is what she had to say about the show:

The finale is the final three bands doing three songs, a la Idol: one judges’ pick, one producers’ pick and one their own pick.

The show absolutely rocked.  Every performance was excellent.

And, most important, THE RIGHT THREE BANDS MADE THE FINAL THREE.

Thank God! I can go on about my day now!

I was skeered to read this, but glad I did. A … great … big … WHEW!!!!

Caffiend. Thanks for your going above and beyond for us, the few, the proud, the NGAB fans.

Interesting article about the Clark Brothers and their family…they went bankrupt on a bad record deal.

  4. 4 elshaddai Dec 13th, 2007 at 10:30 am

Thanks for the update! I couldn’t agree more that the right bands got into the finale - all excellent musicians!

  5. 5 Caffiend Dec 13th, 2007 at 10:34 am

Wow, MJ. I hope this legal trouble for the Clarks doesn’t affect their ability to get a record out if they win. Interesting that they have decided to call themselves Clark: That was the name I was thinking for them!

  6. 6 idolbeat Dec 13th, 2007 at 10:44 am

The article is from 2002, it looks like. It should not have an effect today I would think, unless I am reading this wrong.

Also, maybe with it being 3 of them instead of 6, that might make a difference too IDK.

Who cares - still love them and want them to win!

Thank goodness! I am very excited to see the show now. Thanks as always, Caffiend. I will be sad when this show is over.

I grew up around the Clarks. I live in Rocky Mount, VA. The other brothers still attend my church. I was hoping that Alan and Aaron would have joined the band but they decided it wasn’t for them. It would have been cool to have 5 out of the 6 older brothers jamming onstage. Anyway I hope they win this competition or atleast get noticed again. Ashey will be a great frontman. After touring with carrie Underwood and singing with her I think he will be ready.

I thought LOD would have made it just because they seem to have so many fans. Phew!

I don’t think I’ll be in tomorrow night, so vote on my behalf!

  10. 10 CarieB Dec 13th, 2007 at 11:30 am

I think the right 3 bands are still standing, however my 9 year olds will probably not want to go to the final show taping now that their “bretheren” have been eliminated. Maybe I can keep it a secret??? :wink_wp:

  11. 11 Caffiend Dec 13th, 2007 at 12:19 pm

Over at Vote for the Worst, LOD’s “creator” is whining about how the producers conspired against the tots.

  12. 12 teonjco Dec 13th, 2007 at 1:16 pm

I think the changed voting times hurt them. By putting the show on later there tot fans where not able to vote til midnight, and I was just too damn tired myself! I voted for them cause they were the only metal act. Good or bad they had my vote for playing my music.

Sixwire is next..I HOPE! Damn cookie cutter country! I don’t care how good looking they are! lol.

Goodbye Tots of Doom. I may have to fast forward through their elimination because I can’t stand to see kids get rejected, but it was the right moment for them to start going to bed on time.

Honestly can’t say who I would want to win. Love the Clark Brothers, love Sixwire, and yes, I love DMHO too (just have a harder time watching them except for the hunky horn player on the far right of the screen.)

Because they all three have very different styles of music, they won’t be competing against each other and I think they will all do well. Plus, uh, winning this contest may not even get noticed in the long run.

  14. 14 janerazor Dec 13th, 2007 at 1:29 pm

I enjoyed LOD while they were on the show, but I cannot argue with them getting the boot this week. They aren’t professionals–they are kids who have a lot of talent and potential, though I don’t hold their current level of musicianship against them at all. I hope they continue to play music even if they eventually decide against it as their main careers. There’s still a lot of satisfaction in being a semi-pro musician. Bars always gotta have bar bands, right? :)

Caffiend - please email me at carie.1107@gmail.com when you’re feeling better. I gots questions about attending the show. Thanks.

“Lythgoe talks about three of the four American Band finalists being from Nashville. He thinks it’s a magnet for talent and he’s seen that with Idol. He loves Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, but as a corporate act. He thinks Sixwire’s time has passed, but he really likes them. He thinks The Clark Brothers can open any act, have a long career and record well.”

I am kinda sorry to see the mini-metal guys go. They were always entertaining whereas,IMHO, Denver & Co. were the antithesis of entertaining. Big band sounds just don’t do it for me. Sixwire, to me, is the only professional sounding group in the competition and has been from the beginning with the possible exception of Tres Bien and the black group from PA who were not allowed to linger long enough for me to remember their name.

  18. 18 rtfan Dec 13th, 2007 at 6:22 pm

My vote is for Six Wire; they really aren’t even that country as i like my country but knowing three of the five guys personally kind of puts a spot in my heart for them. My vote will definitely go for them. Thanks for the updates

Thank goodness those little fakers are gone. Loud , annoying and not an ounce of originality in them. Now put on a damn shirt and go away so ears can stop bleeding.I see a lot of headlines coming from these kids and not good headlines. Good luck to the rest especially the Clark bros and Sixwire my favs.

Thank gawddddddd!! I been havin’ a meltdown over this weeks elimination and if those candy coated jujubees had stayed another freaking week I woulda had ta start the Valium drip for sure.

“The Clark Brothers are getting their share of support as well. “My in-laws have just been going insane, voting like maniacs, but I love it.” Clark said.”

Ashley is married? and has a son. Why don’t we hear about them??? (sorry, I’m such a nosy fan-girl!:wub_tb:)

I am a huge Denver fan and have seen them live in concert, own many of their CDs, DVDs, etc., and have even interviewed Denver for a magazine article. They are wonderful at what they do. That being said, I know the culture we live in, and I could easily see one of the other two standing bands taking this competition. They are all tremendous musicians with incredible talent, and now I can honestly say I will be satisfied if any of these three groups win. (I could not make that claim in the beginning.) Cudos to America for such a good ear!

  23. 23 thegeekdeek Dec 14th, 2007 at 8:44 pm

I too am a huge DMHO fan. I have all their CD’s, been to five of their concerts, and sung many of their songs in church. A very under-rated group. Their performances on the TV doesn’t do them the justice they deserve. I’m sure that’s true for the other two groups. I definately won’t be depressed over the outcome of the competition now that the teeny-boppers are out of the pix. Now, why did they have to start the program at 9 PM? I’m an old-man who needs his beauty rest.

  24. 24 sofiasfresh Dec 14th, 2007 at 11:07 pm

LOD is, to me, extremely talented. i knew they weren’t going to win, but for their age their guitarists and drummers are wonderful.
    as for denver….
well they will hopefully go next week :D

  25. 25 kmixon Dec 15th, 2007 at 10:55 am

I am a big fan of DMHO, I have their CDs and I think that they are under-rated on the show. The one judge said they didn’t have what it took to cut a record — He must not realize how many DMHO already has. IDIOT! At any rate. All three of the bands left are fantastic and I would not be disappointed at which ever one makes it. I don’t know much about Sixwire — but I know that the other two have GOD as their manager and as long as they keep him there, they will go far — no matter what. :clap_tb: :clap_tb: :thumbup_tb:

After touring with carrie Underwood and singing with her I think he will be ready.

What more can a guy ask for?

How nice to have a finale where all three actually deserve to be there and any of the three could be winners!

Would you say these three groups are semi-professionals or professionals? They have already accomplished so much!

  27. 27 Knifeblade_03 Dec 17th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Thanks, caffiend!!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate that you let us know the advance.

All three groups are truly pro’s, recorded, polished, know their stuff, and how to stage-presence. It is no surprise that CB takes it this Friday, been coming through the series. 6, however, I think deserved the nod, and I’m sure they will get snatched by some other [hopefully better] label. 6 is radio-ready :thumbup_tb:, well done, 6 for getting so far!!!!!!!! Ah, well, my money was on 6. I admit my bias for 6 as the winner.

DMHO, sad to see you guys go, but I saw the guys listen to the judges, improve, and also say f*** you to Dicko, in an implied sense several times!!!!!!!!! That earns my respect that they stood up for THEM, not taking it from some lame remake of Simon. At least they got some national exposure, which has to help a telented group of musicians. Hopefully, they will improve their vocals and start adding more harmony, but although white-bread, the vocals are good, just not strong enough.

LOD never had a REAL chance, c’mon, as you others pointed out, they really need a few more years under their tiny waists-belts. I do give them snaps, though, for listening, getting more and improving vocals, dressing UP, LMAO, and being so damn energetic. They did own the stage, if not the songs. We’ll see them in a few years, I really hope so!!!!!!!! I just hope they learn to stay on-tempo, they are NOT ready to wander tempo like Hendricks, Zep, Who, Stones, Heart [Derosier as drummer]. We can also go Rush, Yes, etc. I wish them well in a FEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I want express my sincere appreciation to MJ for a FANTASTIC blog.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been great to read about the series, and read what other fans of the show have to say!!!!!!!! :clap_tb:
