This Week’s Billboard Update
- Taylor Hicks? Chris Daughtry? Uhhh, no. Try Carrie Underwood? Last year’s Idol winner charts 4th this week, after an amazing 58 weeks on the Billboard 200. That girl’s got legs.
- Ruben Studdard drops off the Billboard 200 this week.
- DAUGHTRY stays steady, only dropping one chart position. According to Ken Barnes from USA Today’s Idol Chatter blog, Daughtry’s sales were up nearly 40% this week. And many Kudos and Congratulations to Chris–his CD passed the 1 million mark. That’s Platinum baby. One last thing–Daughtry’s single “It’s Not Over” debuts on the Modern Rock chart. I’m impressed.
- Taylor Hicks drops from #2 to #15 this week. And his sales dropped too–from 298,000 to 202,000. Further drops in sales could be reversed with some radio play. A single is due to be released to radio after the New Year. Meanwhile, the CD has gone gold after two weeks.
- Fantasia’s CD dropped precipitously, from #63 to #19. That’s too bad–it’s a good record.
- Katharine McPhee’s “Over the Rainbow” is #2 this week. The single probably got a nice bounce from her appearance on “Home for the Holidays” last week. Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice’s Coronation single are back on the Single Sales chart this week, at #38 and #39 respectively.

First is the new fourth. Me so hurt people are still battling the battle. I beat chris’ ass in AI5. So did Elliott and my true love Kat. She told me I was too young for her tastes. All the songs on my CD that have to do with love, lost love or bad love are to Kat. I love her in open toe shoes. I just wonder why there are such overinvested fans out there. We were talking the other day about it, C and I, one guy bought over 300 CDS of mine and was making mobiles. We laughed at him so hard that we pissed our pants. His chain rusted. C is thankful for Operation Home, he said his label figured it boosted sales considerably. The label now loves G Bush and his war as its made C a megastar. Thats all for now.
This is just a rambling, all in fun, no hurts intended.
