This Week’s Idol Appearances

ETA: By popular demand (chat peeps!) watch Britney Spears sleep-walk through her VMA performance…

I thought I’d devote a post to upcoming Idol appearances that I lovingly gather in one place right here.  If I’ve missed something, shoot me an email at mjsbigblog@gmail.com

  • The MTV Video Music Awards are on TONIGHT, and I don’t know about you, but I’m tuning in for the Brit-brit crash-and-burn that promises to open the show.  Heh.  Idols will be there, supporting the Britney side show. Jennifer Hudson presents an award, while both Daughtry and Carrie Underwood are nominated for awards.  Tune in tonight at 9 pm EDT on MTV.
  • Monday, Kimberley Locke performs at the 16th Annual Ella Awards honoring Gladys Knight in Beverly Hills.
  • Chris Daughtry and his band Daughtry have some TV appearances this week: On Wednesday they appear on the CBS Early Show and then later that night on the Late Show with David Letterman. On Thursday, they appear on Live with Regis and Kelly.  Get your DVRs ready!
  • Opening Thursday: Jon Peter Lewis plays Jesus in the Redlands Civic Light Opera production of the musical “Godspell”.  (The production answers the hypothetical question: What if Jesus were a Hobbit? Heh.)
  • Friday,  Diana DeGarmo appears at the Otis Redding Tribute in Macon, GA 8 pm.
  • Saturday, Kimberley Locke appears at the Savannah Pride celebration in Savannah, GA.  George Huff appears at the Brilliant Embers Fall 2007 Concert in Anaheim, CA. 5:30 pm.  (that’s quite the juxtaposition…) Elliott Yamin appears in London, UK on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Kelly Clarkson appears on a repeat of the CMT special CMT Crossroads: Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire. 3 pm and 11 pm.  Finally, Taylor Hicks performs during halftime with the Auburn University Marching band at the Auburn-Miss football game at Auburn University. Taylor attended Auburn before he quit to pursue a music career full time.

Question for anybody…The schedule says Taylor Hicks is supposed to be in Newport News, VA on September 15. How is he going to perform in Auburn for halftime and get to VA for his show that night? I know Atlanta is only an hour and a half away from Auburn but, without a private jet, it is going to be tough.

First MJ it is Auburn vs Mississippi State

Second the football game starts at 11:30a CST and it is just Taylor and the Auburn band (medley of songs)…he plays at halftime approx 1:00p CST…

His concert is in Newport News Va( 20 minutes east of Williamsburg)..and it is at 8:00p EST…

He obviously is flying and has it planned out..The band will already be there in Newport News….

That’s what I said, except in shorthand. The details are in the article. That’s why I link.

LOL mj. I wonder how long your Brit vid will stay up? It keeps disappearing from Oh No They Didn’t.

That was the worst VMAs ever. :\ I hated the format, it was like…chaos. Nelly Furtado, Justin, and Timbaland were great at the end though. All the Mark Ronson stuff was good too.

Okay, I admit I taped the VMA’s just so I could watch the whole Britney trainwreck. I had hoped that Daughtry and Carrie Underwood would win awards but knew going in that both were long shots.

I really hope someone on the “inside” has video of Kid Rock punching Tommy Lee. I knew something was going on when Jamie Foxx made remarks about the two of them. The incident is already being reported on the internet here:

    What a hot mess.

Britney needs to go home and stay there. And someone she’ll listen to needs to tell her to put some clothes on because she’s working on square.

    oy. Totally sad.

LMAO. This ‘review’ says it pretty well…

Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards - but for all the wrong reasons.

rsf, the “review” never mentioned little d? How could that be?

    Yeah, that was sad really.
Britney’s glorious days are definitely over. The girl really sleep walked throgh her performance, what was going on there?
Is this her comeback? The future looks gray.

Brit looked truly awful. With all that’s happened to her, I should feel pity, but I can’t squash my snarky glee. I’m a bad, bad woman.

Just a minor correction to the list of appearances……

Daughtry will be performing in NYC for the Early Show at noon on 9/12. The actual performance will be shown on television during the Early Show on Friday 9/14

That’s really sad about Britney, esp. since she has kids. Party-harty w/Diddy the night before the show…not smart.

The Kid/Tommy Lee vid wouldn’t load, dangit! I wanted to see Kid pop one on Tommy. If they ever matched up in the ring, my $$ would be on the Kid, heh.

Did she forget how to dance? Or did she just forget her choreography? One thing’s for sure - her choreographer certainly didn’t do her any favors. Because I do have to give Brit a *little* bit of credit… girl could dance.

Oh yeah. It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen extensions that bad.

I read at the etrain that Elliott might not be attending that JDRF UK affair after all.
