I just read the post about Taylor fans voting for Kat’s video and I just have to laugh. Daughtry held the top spot on VH1 for 8 weeks with the rest of the time spent at #2. Why would Taylor fans suddenly care whether Daughtry is #1 again? I seriously doubt Taylor fans give a crap about a VH1 poll or any other poll that doesn’t affect Taylor. Kat fans are the absolute best at voting in online polls, etc. so it’s not surprising that her video is #1 again. Congrats to her! I mean, come on, Daughtry fans like myself are clueless when it comes to voting via the telephone, so just imagine how difficult it is for us to vote online. LOL Fortunately Daughtry fans do know how to buy CDs and download singles.
As for Season 6 - I’m already a member of Team Plaid. Can I be a member of Team Humble too? Melinda and Blake are my favorites (with Jordin a close third). Phil impressed me this week. The rest were just BLEH. I really enjoyed Martina (that girl can SANG) and surprisingly Fergie wasn’t awful (and she didn’t pee her pants on stage - yippee!).
Let me get this straight….a private fan site that no Taylor fan on this board has ever heard about….sure…
If this theoretical fan site is so super secret that nobody has heard of it, how many votes can it be generating? VFTW with 3 million hits a week can’t even keep Sanjaya in the game. And don’t you think that those theoretical “crazed, stop at nothing Taylor fans” would have better things to do like send nasty e-mails to critics, harass DJs and throw eggs at Simon’s car? What could they possibly gain by getting Katharine to top a voting poll? Prove that yet another Idol is doing better than their’s? Why not vote for some third party like Avril?
Isn’t it possible that Kat fans are voting for her video? And the viewing audience? Why can’t she have fans too? It’s doing fairly well on the airplay charts? Or are all the DJs “crazed, stop at nothing Taylor fans” so they play her song? I think not. Her and her songs have fans. Good for her. Let us congratulate her for her success.
This half-baked conspiracy theory doesn’t even pass the sniff test.
And this on a day when MJ has asked us not to spread sketchy rumours about Idol fan bases…
As a Taylor Fan I do not even vote for him in polls—-and I certainly would not waste my precious time voting for kat….my time is better spent in CHAT talking to important people(and they all know who they are)….I believe many of us know who started this STUPID rumor and I will give you a hint>>>> she knows INSIDERs…
I just got off the phone with my son. We were chatting about who will be the two “biggest” stars next week. We both agreed that Bono is the guy. Then he said he thinks the female will be Madonna. Apparently, she is in Africa right now and has been on the French version of Idol as a celebrity judge.
I think he is right, Madonna AND Bono, how awesome would that be? I really think it is going to be one hell of a program that night.I haven’t voted all year, but for this charitable event, for the kind and gentle way that Blake wiped away Lakish’a tears and for the fact that I really like Lakisha, she and Blake will be etting some love from me next week.
I would love to hear Lakisha sing Amazing Grace accapella next week,I think that would be a show stopper.
I’ve seen that video before of Elvis and it really tugs at the heart strings, the song really suits Elvis to a T even though its a Sinatra song. But even in his final days the man could still sing, and when he showed you those eyes and smiled, you almost forgot that he’ twice the size he was 5 years ago and full of drugs.
I wouldn’t mind of Elvis was on Idol again, i have absolutely no problem with watching that man on HD. I just recently bought Elvis’ Ed Sullivan episode DVDs and on one of them, they’re introducing a new comic by the name of Carol Brunett! (whom i love)
It’s Martians. Marvin the Martian has McPheever and it gives his dirty thoughts machine a work out and he aims his, er, space modulator to manipulate the voting to keep ***’s video at #1.
The private Taylor fansite is only a front. But there’s a real estate office in the back and Marvin has a nice bridge for sale - with a great view of lower Manhattan.
after viewing kat’s video for the 1st time just a few minutes ago …I must say the 1st word that comes to my mind is QUALITY….and the 2nd word is AWE……kat has become my Inspiration…what more can I say but GOkatGO.
I’ve seen that video before of Elvis and it really tugs at the heart strings, the song really suits Elvis to a T even though its a Sinatra song. Off topic, but I just came across a beautiful video on YouTube that moved me to tears:
It’s Rufus Wainwright singing “O Holy Night”, my fave Christmas hymn, in French. It’s really wonderful.
It’s funny, but I don’t think I could think of an artist more of a polar opposite to Taylor, but I just love Rufus, too. Rufus’ new album is coming out in a couple of weeks, for those interested.
eta: I can see the link when I edit but not when I post. Weird.
Simon was just interviewed on my local Fox station. He said he wasn’t as happy as he thought he’d be when Sanjaya got voted off last night. There is definitely going to be a void on the show without him there. Everyone knows he wasn’t a great singer, and, country night was just awful, but, he added some excitement to this year’s celebrity showcase, which goes under the guise of American Idol.
I googled Neilsen ratings, idol and 4/17. The rating was 11.4/32.2. I couldn’t believe the size of the audience but then noticed that was for 2006. This week’s prelim rating for Tues was 15.1/24. If I read that right they got a bigger share of the audience but lost around 8 million viewers from last year. I’m sure MJ will post the actual numbers. That’s a heck of a drop if I’m right. No wonder Simon has mixed feelings about Sanjaya leaving. The charity thing should be fine but after that…
Taylor’s fake out last year was staged by Nigel. One of the entertainment reporters from the tv show Access Hollywood wrote in her article that she was there when it happened. That when Ryan went to break, before Taylor had to actually choose but after he was standing with Ryan midstage, that Nigel ran up to Taylor and whispered something to him and ran back to his seat before the break was over.
I know that the Idols are under restrictions, but how long do these last? If one of them wrote some things previously unknown, in a book, would there be legal consequences? I know that several have written books and now Taylor has one coming out, in which he says there will be some Idol surprises. I doubt it will be anything monumental though. Whaddya think, o wise ones?
I kinda took one day to search the internet to try and understand the confidentiality agreement and the contracts.
What I found out….and I have NO BASIS to believe it is fact, but….I read that there is a 5 million dollar fine for breaking the contract/agreement….so…there ya go
I didnt read all the comments but about the critic article..I am sorry if this bugs anyone.. but I think if you dont want to hear comments about what you write then dont have a comment section..and if you are a professional writer getting paid..put your big boy or girl panties on and grow some thick skin and get that everyone is not going to like what you write and ignore them. Just as professional singers like Taylor ignore the critics or they would stop singing for the most part!! And how do we know that all fanbases dont do this but he was affected by the Taylor piece so that is what he wrote about!! Just sayin… sometimes in professions like critic and singing..you have to take the good the bad and the ugly!!
Ok..no one will even see this probably ..but I am done! : )
Oops Steve O!! Not sure I made this clear.. I dont think people should bombard a reviewer with negative comments.. I would not do that…and dont think Taylor would want you to do that but you cant control everything and to get in snit and take it out on the artist or singer is silly to me. If they dont want comments or discussion they wouldnt have a comment section … all comments could be done with class in a perfect world but we know that we dont have that SOOO…
It is obviously a problem with a lot of fans.. I say just ignore the reviwer is the best thing..take the high road like Taylor would! But I do not like whiny critics either! lol
Got loads to do so I’ll leave some new links here.

It’s hard to know whether to jump for joy or be bummed out that Sanjaya Malakar, one of the most beloved and reviled contestants in American Idol history, finally got kicked off. Sure, it’s a singing competition and the guy didn’t exactly excel at things vocal. But on the other hand, he was charming and endearing in his own work-the-camera-in-a-ponytailed-mohawk kind of way.
