I don’t know if that’s true, PJ. I’ve been trying to ignore the Taylor posts but they’ve become overwhelming lately. I’d love to see more talk about this season. I know I’ve moved on for the most part.

We don’t know the Season 6 kids well enough to snark on them much. ALthough Antonella was pretty snark worthy but I still don’t know her well enough to snark on her and she is gone.

Jesus Christ. I was reading through the posts from yesterday and BAM! I run smack into a war that has now carried on over to today’s thread and I was not going to comment on it but…well I have now been dragged into it and so I will speak for myself.
The reality is that the chat room is a no holds barred place. You can call someone an asshole, a bitch or talk about them behind their backs. The hope is that the really nasty shit will stay in chat and if you dont like what goes on there then you dont go there. I get it and many political boards have a place where you can do the same thing so that the board does not get disrupted. Its a good idea but it has some drawbacks.
I have never gone to chat as a lurker. Not cause Im above it but because Im always afraid it will show my screen name as Dingo and then I will be noticed so instead of taking the chance, I just dont do it and its worked out well for me.
I went into chat about 2 weeks ago and you know how you can see a few of the responses when you go in? Well, as luck would have it, I was the subject of ridicule. Hey, as a political junkie, I have been called far worse but this is a blog where I thought EVERYONE loved me. As my mother used to say, WHO WOULDN’T…but I digress. (Im teasing about the everyone part but not by a lot).
Anyways, I aint stupid. Did you all think I would have gone to Boston dressed in a bunnysuit and bright pink nails with bunny ears on? Did you think I would have made a fool of myself in front of Mr Hicks? Did you think that I would embarass MJ’s? First of all, I wouldnt embarass myself and I would certainly not embarass an entire group of people.
What? Did some of you think that I thought I was a real fucking rabbit? Somehow, very insidiously, this whole bunny slipper thing got started in my wild imagination then came the batcave and the secret decoder ring but it was all in fun. Dont you think I know that many would become bored with it? But it was my way of trying to diffuse things when they became hot on the blog as well as bring some humor and if I got really lucky maybe I could make someone laugh. Its who I am, Its what I do. Hell, Im bored with it myself. I would never intentionally hurt anyone on this blog…not in chat and not on the threads because that means I would have to also wound myself.
You cant run me off that easily, you dont like my bunny slippers? Tough, cause they are now an extension of my persona on this blog and Easter is fast approaching lmao but I really hate season 6 so far, though I continue to watch it. Whats wrong with THAT picture? So I dont come in EVERY day as I once did and you must remember, blogs are in a constant state of flux with changes and new faces and new people flitting in and out all the time. Thats a good thing.
MJ has done a valiant job of trying to police this joint, it aint easy and so I would be the last person to criticize her decisions because as the co owner of a once extremely busy political blog, I know that its damn near impossible and that as human beings ourselves, we let some people get away with things and others not on occasion. All in all, remember that she is ONE person trying to keep a blog interesting and fresh everyday.
To all of you who have emailed me and who have defended me (though why a bunny would need defending and why some would be so uppity about an innocent gag is beyond me)thank you but I can defend myself and when I think I should, I will. One good thing that happens when this kind of event occurs is that you learn a little more about the people on the blog. Its fascinating. I figure, if you get your jollies disrespecting and ridiculing people behind their backs, maybe your someone I dont want to be too close to anyways but thats just me.
Anyways, nice try and I may not be a “cool” kid and I may not know the music industry inside and out and I may not understand the numbers game but I know good music when I hear it and Im here to stay cause after its all said and done, this is still the best blog on the net for Idol information.

Love you Dingo! I noticed a shift a few weeks back that has gotten nasty in chat so I have just stayed away. There is enough negative things going on in this world without spending hours reading or following it in chat.

Dingo, blogs as you know bring out the best and the worst in people but they do show what a person is really made of. The same type of people who ridicule a person behind their back is the same type of person who would think Simon’s crude behavious towards the mentally hanicapped boy was a hoot.
I don’t know who this person or person’s is/were but obviously 99% of the people who post on this blog are better than that and those same 99% adore you.As my big brother would say, fuck them if they can’t take a joke.
Sadly, the nastiness doesn’t stay in chat. And when that kind of attitude and behaviour are accepted in chat, the boundaries start to blur and it’s gonna start to bleed over into the blog.
Personally, I don’t get what some FOLKs get out of picking fights, stirring the pot, and being so nasty all the time. I also don’t get why this behaviour has been elvated to the point that is it not only acceptable, but expected. If you don’t treat people like that in your everyday life, why is all of a sudden ok just because you’re hiding behind a clever screen name? The way certain FOLks behave when they think that no one in their real life is watching reveals an awful lot about their true character. Very very sad.
lynnie,I agree with you about the chat meaness spilling over to the boards. I was on a few weeks ago and people were absolutely reaming Taylor. It was making me seriously sick at my stomach. Here is a nice young man who gave us everything he had last year, entertained us and still entertains us, just trying to make a living, and these people were acting like he was Jack the Ripper. It started with 1 or 2, then elevated like a bunch of street thugs.
I of course came to his defense and tried to change the subject from the petty nastiness I was seeing from generally intelligent people, but then I was picked at.
I finally said to one Taylor fan et tu and then it stopped. I know it’s just a blog, but it has always been one of the best non-political blogs I have seen filled with warm,intelligent people.
I have to say I was shocked and disgusted that day, it felt like the scary blogs filled with half witted children.
Dingo, you’re the best and a breath of fresh air! Thank you.
MJ, Thanks for all the work you do on this blog. I don’t watch AI as much, but I come here for your recaps. Like last night. Couldn’t believe Sundance was voted off. My daughter came running into the room and told me. I was floored. I felt bad for him.

Why can’t you just call folk out by name? Why be so coy? This is the kind of passive-aggressive crap that makes me want to close up shop and go home.
If adults–mostly middle-aged adults–can’t work out their differences LIKE adults, I can’t really help you. I refuse to babysit people as if they were third graders.
And Dingo–welcome back. I’m not in chat all the time, so I’m actually not sure what went down to upset you, but I’m glad it hasn’t scared you away. Email me anytime if you have any problems…I mean that.
Why be so coy?
I have to ask this question. Isn’t stating on the blog “come to chat” and then going there to talk about and ridicule people a little childish and down right mean and nasty? I do know that I’m not the only one who has gone over to chat and found what was being said pretty petty. MJ, I am not questioning your ways of running this place directly (I’ve enjoyed being here for almost a year), but I don’t understand why this is acceptable. I’m new to the internet stuff. I found your site from the AI boards and didn’t even know there was a comment section where people talked to each other for quite a few months. This blog then became a wonderful place to visit and “leave the real world behind for a while”. And I really appreciated how people for the most part were respectful of each other and did not tell other posters what to post, etc. Now, with the chat feature, it’s like “walking into the bathroom back in jr. high school” and everyone is talking about you or someone else. It’s just very ugly and uncomfortable. I did not go into the chat room to “lurk and spy on people”. I went there to see what was going on and if I could join in on the conversation. I understand that I don’t need to go there. I stopped and have no intention of going back. I don’t need that kind of negativity. And I won’t go to chat and “fight it out” cause I never came here to have bitchy fights with people over unimportant and petty stuff. Who would want to do that for enjoyment?
I am just really curious as to why this is the “accepted” way things are in the blog/chat world.
MJ, with all due respect, I don’t need and never asked for any help. As someone who usually reads and occ posts, I am not overly invested here. I am not friends or enemies with anyone, and don’t have any differences to work out with anyone. I’ve chatted in chat a couple of times and it was fun. What I’ve posted here were my objective observations .
Seriously, do you disagree with the content of what I’ve posted? Unless your banning of Folk ( talk about refusing to babysit!) was random and arbitrary, I guess there must be some substance to what’s been said here?
And I disagree that any of my posts have been passive-aggressive. I have been very direct.
You’ve got a great blog here MJ - I guess my only agenda is that I’d really like it to continue to be a fun and friendly place for AI fans to hang out.
I respect you and the way you try to run your blog, so if you need to ban me for answering you honestly and directly, so be it. I’ll still enjoy reading you and wish you continued success with your blog.

DINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the ****** Hicks concert and it was great! I thought of you. Give Me Tonight was so hot. He changed it all bluesy. The Maze was hot the way he changed it. Wait till you hear him say,”You don’t know!.” YOUNG TURKS was not your basic Rod song-HOT!! Find the song Compared to What and x 100000000000 and that is Taylor’s hottest song! I had a ball.
