Top 24 - Rumors and Spoilers…

Apparently, the Top 24 were chosen, from the Top 50, today (Tuesday) in California.  Names have not leaked yet.  The idolforums spoiler Joesplace says on her blog:

Today 26 hearts were broken.  I am TRULY sorry for all of them… You all are stars. You should be very proud of how far you went in this silly competition. Your day is just around the bend, so make the most of the opportunities that will arise as a result of your time on American Idol. I wish for you the best!!

And for 24, their dreams have come true.  I hope that this experience is all that you hoped it to be. Enjoy, your time is now!

The top 24 was chosen today - and no, I have no updates at this time.

These people better be good. I don’t want another season 6

Tony — Season 6 is the poster child of BAD AI, but it wasn’t really THAT bad. Remember — the public voted for Season 6 and please don’t beat up on Sanjaya. The producers are probably glad there was a Sanjaya or a Kevin Covais because it keeps the controversy going. If ALL the singers were GREAT, how boring would that be?

Ya know, if TPTB were smart, they would send the contestants through one door to go down the Green Mile and then have them immediately exit the building so no one could get the whole picture of who got a “yes”.

Can’t wait to find out which contestant will be the first one disqualified due to background check.

I’ll still never understand why so many people think season 6 is worse than season 3, which was hands down my least favorite season. Take away Fantasia, Latoya, and somewhat Jennifer, and your left with a big pile of talentless, forgettable people. Not to mention it was so boring that the only 3 good ones were soul singers, no diversity at all. Last year at least had Blake, who was interesting and new, Jordin who was very likable and had probably the best voice of any teen they’ve had, Phil had a strong voice, Gina was good if you liked rock, LaKisha was one of the best big voices they’ve ever had when she was on, and lets not forget the best pure singer in idol history, Melinda. I mean don’t get me wrong, season 6 definitely is not at the top of my rankings, but it irks me that everyone all of sudden treats it like the horrible ugly stepsister, and yet seem to have no recollection of the disaster that was season 3.

Diana DeGarmo was from Season 3, and she’s done very well with little help from AI.

I’m conflicted about reading this thread. Part of me wants to know some, if not all, of the people who have made the Top 24 before viewing the rest of the audition rounds. Seeing the subtle as well as the blatant pimping of these people by Simon (R & P don’t rate, IMO) and the producers ups the interest level for me. Also, I would feel less “played” while watching the human interest stories of the also-rans.
On the other hand, do I want to deny myself the soul cleansing rage when someone who’s voice has intrigued me gets booted?
    Hmmmm…

    Rumor has it:

TOP 24 are mostly composed of “rockers” and “teenagers”
*Many contestants who sing the R&B, country, jazzy genre didn’t make it. A few managed to make it though.

They say that David Archuleta and Michael Johns made top 24.

I will be a happy camper if this is so. :clap_tb:

I feelin’ a bit of the rage.

ETA: Oh, and the teenager thing. I guess this middle aged Idol watcher will be bored again this year.

I have felt that three of the TOP 12 will be teenage guys, unless they cut into each others votes.

Well, at least we get get an idea of who we want to “attach” warm feelings.
