There’s a list of contestant’s rumored to have made the Top 24, put together by Joesplace. I’ve put the list together with some resources here.

After the final week of televised auditions, what do you think so far of the people who could possibly make it to the semifinals?

Heh — I really appreciate Unca Nigel’s efforts by only show us 6 of the guys in the top 12. You have to think it’s only good customer service that they are letting us know which 6 to vote for…

But which 6 girls to vote for?

    /sarcasm rant off

  2. 2 jersey Feb 7th, 2008 at 10:37 am

Yeah, I wish they had showed all top 24 at some point during the audition rounds. Maybe they’ll highlight the other 6 guys on the Hollywood show? Nah, I doubt it. Jason, Luke et al. it was nice almost getting to know you. Unless the unknowns knock our socks off during the first live show, they’re cannon fodder for sure.

Of the ones we’ve seen, generally speaking, I’m a lot more intrigued by some of the women’s voices rather than the boys. That may be the problem……they seemed SO young.

I can’t help myself, but does anyone else think that Danny Noriega looks like Amanda Bynes when goes all wide-eyed and pouty-mouthed?

Did they show Danny last year?

  5. 5 MrsTrep Feb 7th, 2008 at 2:05 pm

I was surpised to hear how many of the rumored top 24 were shown last night! I was at Disney on Ice and missed the episode. Is this more than normal? There are still faces that are big question marks to me. I hope they get some face time in Hollywood. Kind of makes me want to dial for them……it all comes back to the ‘fairness’ that is AI.

  6. 6 gabam Feb 7th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

During Season 5 they showed Chris, Taylor, Paris, Ace, Kat, Kellie and Mandisa during the audition process. The only part of Elliott’s audition was found on YouTube and was only 15 seconds long. I don’t think they ever showed it during the auditions shows.

I hope that the ones not shown so far this season get shown during Hollywood week. The ones shown early get a helping hand because people may have already decided to support them. Not quite fair but it’s life.

I believe Danny Noriega went as far as Hollywood last season. He was in Sanjaya’s group.

I favor him to be this season’s Sanjaya if he makes it to the top 12.

They also showed Kevon Covais’ audition (YOU LIFT ME UP), and also Lisa Tucker ( she did Whitney Houston’s ONE MOMENT IN TIME).

Taylor and Paris had the privilege of being asked to sing two songs in the auditions after they heard them sing the first one.

With only one Hollywood episode, there’s not a lot of time to tie up the also-ran stories AND introduce the additional 6 top-24 Mystery Men. Sorry, Luke, Jason Y., Jason C., Garrett, David H., and Colton. Must suck watching the the audition rounds and slowly realizing you are cannon fodder. But I predict that Danny and David A. won’t BOTH make it to the top 12, so try to pick off one of them, lol!

Of the Mystery Men, I’d say based purely on looks and on the guys they did show, Luke and Jason C. have the best chances to sneak into the top 12.

AI has shown us all the ladies, and for some reason, I’m getting a huge cannon fodder vibe from Amy Davis…something about the way they emphasized her looks over her singing. I’m thinking she is this year’s Pretty-Girl-Who-Can’t-Really-Sing.

  10. 10 primeminister Feb 7th, 2008 at 3:58 pm

I want to see more of the guys.

  11. 11 jersey Feb 7th, 2008 at 4:18 pm

AI should take a cue from Lost and use the internet to continue the story. Once the top 24 are announced, they should put all of their auditions up on the internet so that people would have some ability to see the other participants before the live shows. At least make an attempt to level the playing field.

  12. 12 idod51181 Feb 7th, 2008 at 4:27 pm

well could it be that the other 6 guys not shown are not really in the Top 24?? How accurate is this Joesplace guy? Still hoping Colton Swon is in the Top 24 along with Drew and Brandon Green….

  13. 13 Chicago-sally Feb 7th, 2008 at 4:37 pm

Is it me or are they all pretty people? Some of them look good enough to be models. Anyhow here goes: Personality counts a lot as well as singing. What I’ve seen so far, only one “stands” out and that’s the Amanda chick. I liked her rough voice and her look. As for guys, Michael Lee….but we shall see next week. After 7 seasons they all know the drill so the pros should be able to sail through with no problems.

I hope the “old” Simon comes back.

I can’t help myself, but does anyone else think that Danny Noriega looks like Amanda Bynes when goes all wide-eyed and pouty-mouthed?

I knew I read it on this blog! I commented on the audition thread. Yes, after you mentioned it, I went back and watched the audition again and he DOES look like Amanda Bynes!! LOL! Esp in that movie “She’s the Man”

  15. 15 Sarah Feb 7th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

It really annoys me that they only showed half of the rumored top 24 guys, and then showed others who made top 50 but get cut (Colton Swon, Drew, Brandon, etc)…

I missed the first 10 minutes of the show last night, so I need to go back and watch Amy Davis. Interesting that everyone’s getting the cannon fodder vibe from her.

Looking at the list, it really seems like a lot of the ringers will make it through to the top 12 pretty easily - Kristy Lee, Carly, Michael Johns, David A, maybe Syesha and Robbie. That kind of annoys me too.

All the blondes just kill me… Even if Amy Davis does turn out to be cannon fodder, I might root for her just because she’s not blonde. Although I have to say, after seeing the small clip of Brooke White in Hollywood, she might actually end up being one of my faves this year, even though I was less than impressed with her initial audition.

  16. 16 MrsTrep Feb 7th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

I just finally watched Amy Davis and I SOOO hope she’s cannon fodder or she really has this potential they are talking about, because she wasn’t good. She was off tune and bland and there wasn’t much special there besides a tiny figure. There’s a link here somewhere to a picture of her, looking like it was professionally done, in a tiny bathing suit. Maybe they are counting on her being this years Antonella?

Yeah, that pissed me off too. A little bit cruel I would say..

Amanda Bynes on She’s The Man! Yes, that’s who he reminded me of! Thank you for pointing that out. I had been thinking about it since I saw the show. LOL

I want to see more of Luke Menard.

blockquote>It really annoys me that they only showed half of the rumored top 24 guys, and then showed others who made top 50 but get cut (Colton Swon, Drew, Brandon, etc)…

If they really want a guy to win, why not show all 12 of them in the audition phase? Or, is TCO in the group of guys we actually did see? It is not fair and balanced!

I hope Amanda Overmyer is the rocker chick for the TOP 12. Some classified as a rocker in past seasons weren’t like her.

    Hollywood week should be longer.

  21. 21 oh brother! Feb 8th, 2008 at 3:05 am

I favor him to be this season’s Sanjaya if he makes it to the top 12.

I definitely pegged Danny as this season’s media magnet - but I think he’s a better singer. It’s kind of funny, though, the throwback vibes I get from both boys. Sanjaya at his best reminded me of a young Michael Jackson, whereas Danny reminds me of a male Amy Winehouse. If Danny doesn’t blow it by freaking out either in performance or in personality, he could stick around for quite a while.

  22. 22 MrsTrep Feb 8th, 2008 at 8:25 am

Hey Lu!! Hope all is well!!

I have to agree with Sarah, I don’t think the top 12 will be shocking looking at the top 24, unless there’s a rabid fanbase out there for someone. I listened to one of the ‘unseen’ boys last night on YouTube doing “If I Ever Fall In Love” acapella (not even going to pretend I know how to spell that) and he sounded reallyy good and was cuter there than the photo MJ has posted… has potential. I think with a lot of them, as always, it’ll end up coming down to song choice!

And I listened to some of Brooke on her mySpace, great voice!! And she plays the keyboard and guitar!

  23. 23 erennick Feb 8th, 2008 at 12:39 pm

I have to say that I really like a lot of the “Top 24.” It is unusual that they showed all 12 of the girls. I went back and looked at the Top 24 for last year and they barely showed half of them (guys and girls). Also, this year they have shown a lot of the rumored Top 48/50. Usually, we only know a few of the singers that actually make it into the chair without moving on. It has been a sea of people we don’t know, getting told “sorry,” then the singers in the lobby being shocked about it, and us wondering why because we haven’t seen them sing. But, if the rumors are right for this year, we will have seen at least eight of them, and a few are bound to be featured in Hollywood.

Speaking of those, not making it to the Top 24, I am glad that Josiah has been featured because I think he’s great! Like MJ, I don’t think he sounds too English, but would ultimately be undone by the whole run on Idol. His voice, while great on his originals, would be subjected to harsh criticism the further into the competition it goes. I really do love his original songs, so hopefully he will get noticed by his appearance(s).

Oh- I will also be shocked if Amy Davis is not cannon fodder.

This “Joesplace Guy” is actually a girl, and I hear shes pretty accurate. :cool2_tb:

    lol

I don’t really think there’s anything to be upset about yet. We’ve alrady seen WAY more of the top 24 than we usually see, and I’m sure some more of them will be introduced during the 2 hour hollywood episode. And don’t forget, during the chair episode, they sometimes tell a little about the contestants during their segment. So that’s another opportunity to fill in some missing backstories.

Besides, if they showed the audition of everyone who made the top 24 during the audition rounds, then there would be no suspense. We would all automatically know who made it. So they have to mix people who made it with people who didn’t. It seems very logical to me.

  26. 26 St. Lucia Feb 8th, 2008 at 6:16 pm

Hi, everyone. Crawling out of the woodwork. I’m usually a lurker, and I don’t usually delurk until a new season of idol starts. What can I say, I work too much…God bless, Tivo. :)

I’m really looking forward to the Hollywood rounds(thanks to the superbowl commercials.) The whole aspect of contestants playing their own instruments makes it THAT much more interesting).

I too, for an alarming change, am more interested in some of the girls voices than the guys. I’m surprised by that because I’ve always had “guy favorites” in every other season. I’m irked by the lack of displaying of HALF of the 24 guys, but as “reality” as this show is, I must say I’m not surprised. They already have their top 12, top 6, top 3, and idol winner planned out and they will make it work to the best of their abilities.

The top 24, am pleased for a big part, I’m sad over Josiah Leming! I totally bought into his story hook, line and sinker, but I don’t think I would have as much if he hadn’t had such an interesting voice. He had the most fascinating voice. Poor Josiah.

I’m REALLY irked about Amy Davis(McTatas of Season 7) making it. I would have taken ANYONE over her. She’s obviously there on her looks alone, since I felt her voice was so mediocre. We have a pretty one every season. I SHOULD support her since she is a fellow Hoosier, and we haven’t had anyone from Indiana in the contestant in all seasons make it that far, but I’ll throw my support behind Amanda Overmeyer without missing a bit. What an intriguing contestant.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out, but I’m SO READY for the Hollywood rounds to get going! I love that drama! And the Green Mile walk on Wednesday.

So I’ve officially delurked now, so hi, everyone. :)

Did everyone see the Top 24 Picture? Looks like JP was right.

  28. 28 Sarah Feb 9th, 2008 at 11:11 am

Hi St Lucia!! Glad you delurked! :)

My favorite on the show from the beginning to end has NEVER been a female (I generally prefer male voices, period), but that might change this year. I do like some of the guys (Michael Johns and David Cook to be specific) but I’m really intrigued by some of the girls too, more so than I’ve ever been after auditions ended.

I think it’s interesting that the producers seem to have actually possibly listened to the complaints of them not airing enough of the good auditions and people who actually make the top 50, then 24. That will make for a more dramatic Green Mile episode at the very least… with people we’ve seen who are garnering some buzz getting cut in favor of people we haven’t seen (at least up to this point).

That picture is interesting. The Simon face cutout made me laugh.

Did anyone notice this on David Archuleta’s profile page on the CBS site for Star Search?

Challenged by Alexandrea Lushington on 2-21; retained Winners’ Circle spot with 14 stars.
