I think he has the voice to handle it. From all I’ve heard of his singing, he has a pretty incredible range.
Me too. Even if he doesn’t do the whole song acapella, it would still give me goosebumps.
Bettye Lavette has a bluesy soul version that sounded pretty good- I had to listen a few time to make sure it was the same lyrics.
oops-cheese beat me to it
Ohhhh, NostraD, “Falling Out of Love With Me”….whooo, that is some flipping song…one of the reasons why Dolly is such a genius.
The poetic structure…so tied in with the truth of that song; the way she repeats phrases the way we go over and over things in our minds…
Or in “Jolene,” the way the title name is repeated and repeated in rising panic, further and further up on the scale…
These are the things that say what an intuitive artist she is, and how she has been touched with genius to be able to express these things so vividly in the language of music.
Joan Osborne does a nonbluegrass version of Ramielle’s song.
oh Ryan, u silly dwarf
He’s got Dolly to help him with it, too; she’ll be there to tell him to go down/up a half-step or whatever so the song brings out the most in his range.
I can’t hear Cookie singing blues, or soul for that matter. It’s a nice cover; I just can’t imagine him singing it.
ETA: LMAO @ RYAN. It sounded too good to be true…xD
Oh, I was right when I thought Brooke was going acoustic with “Jolene”. Hmm.
…I’m scared of Cookie’s new hairstyle. I almost wished he’d kept the combover look right now.
Looks liked they purtied up Cookie – new hair, little beard growth – looks more mainstream I guess.
He sounded great to me by the way. I liked the arrangement.
