I liked Blake the most tonight. His performance was the only one that made me want to rewind and watch again. He’s fun and different, and I think Simon is underestimating his voice. We’ll see what happens during the theme weeks, when Chris R.’s JT routine wears thin.

    I’m worried about Brandon….hope he makes it…he’s got a lot more than he’s shown….

Much better show than last week!

Here’s how I would rank them tonight

Sundance - he brought his A game. Mustang Sally is a great choice because people know it and can dance along. Since he has not been consistent, I’m not sure how he will fare.

Chris Sligh - I really liked his version of Trouble - showed his voice well. He has a terrific upper register, full and powerful. He needs to use it to his advantage as the competition goes on.

AJ - The guy has a really nice voice. I think he is the dark horse.

Jared - Great song choice, but he tried too hard on what should have been more subtly sexy - he has the looks - he just needed to smolder more. Marvin Gaye seduces, he doesn’t plead.

Blake - It was okay - good voice - not a fan of the beatboxing, so I’m not a good one to judge. I did like the song choice though.

Phil - kinda dull - but a really nice voice - needs to step up the intensity a bit as it was kinda bland.

Chris Richardson - Had a lot of energy, but I don’t like the voice and the jt copycat stuff. I kinda liked the song.

Brandon - Doomed by a terrible song choice and bad background singers. Everytime those girls sing with a contestant, the contestant sounds out of tune. I’m afraid he might be going home, which is too bad because he is really one of the better singers.

Nick - Fever just didn’t burn. It totally lacked intensity.

Sanjaya - He is in way over his head. Steppin Out lacked any internal energy and backbone. Unfortunately, I think he will stay on to sing another day.

It surprises me that I am agreeing with Simon more and more. Hmmm….

    2-10 (B3) Nicholas Pedro

  7. 507 SEXYGIRL Feb 27th, 2007 at 11:27 pm

It appears as if Nicholas, Brandon and AJ have the lowest percentages.

  8. 508 cochem Feb 27th, 2007 at 11:31 pm

Taylor just did “Where I’m From” (Alabama Frame of Mind)

sitting on stool just josh on guitar and loren on keyboards..

completely different from One Nite In Nashville set…slower

    Now “Long Train Running”

Who keeps voting for Sundance?? My God…! I don’t see the magic on this guy.. Whatever…

I lOVED Blake I do think he is an original, and I bet he will impress even more people as the weeks go by. I like the fact he is mixing things up so no one gets bored.
But I disagree with you gemlake, I do think Simon really likes Blake. He thought he was terrific last week, he just likes more Blake singing than beat boxing… I think Blake will go very as the theme weeks roll by and he keeps showing those great vocals.
I must say though I like better Blake without the hat.

  10. 510 bean99 Feb 27th, 2007 at 11:40 pm

I thought the boys were so much better tonight.

Sundance- the best of the night for me, it reminds me of his first audition. Loved the baby!

Blake- he’s so different that I like him

Chris S- tonight I really saw what a good voice he has and liked the wife dedication.

Chris R- not a fan although he was fine. He’s Justin lite to me.

Phil- sounded good but thought he should have picked a different song

Nick- I liked him tonight, he has a nice, smokey voice.

    Jared= good but not great

    AJ- better than last week

Sanjay- why can’t he sing like he did at the end? His voice is too subdued for me. I think Simon should lay off since he’ll get sympathy voice. young girls probably love him.

Brandon- what happened to him? I thought he’d be so much better but was a disappointment again tonight.

  11. 511 madaboutu Feb 27th, 2007 at 11:42 pm

Thanks cochem. I couldn’t find a cellert recap. Sounds good.
I am just now watching the boys on AI for the first time. So far, it just seems very bland for me and I can think of so many other guys in all seasons who were better. Just me maybe. Am watching Chris Sligh sing Trouble. He has a nice voice. It is different than Taylor and Rays versions which is good. Still no real passion from anyone tho. I am looking forward to the girls.

  12. 512 Tracy Feb 28th, 2007 at 12:20 am

I think Blake is my favorite guy this year. He’s definitely original. My dad didn’t like him, though. He said his outfit went out circa NKOTB. lol

It’d be a shame to see Brandon leave so soon because he’s definitely got a good voice. He just hasn’t impressed so far.

  13. 513 Lisa Feb 28th, 2007 at 12:52 am

Egads, what ever is wrong with me? I actually thought Suckdance did good tonight. Could not stand JustinFake, and Sligh UGH. Why on earth try to do something Taylor excelled with? You did NOT do it justice Sligh.

  14. 514 cricket Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:02 am

I think that Brandons song choice may get him booted this week. There were others who sang worse but I fear that he may be the one to go. Sanjaya , AJ and Nick were at the bottom for me tonight. AJ and Nick have good voices but to me they have no passion. I wasn’t impressed with Blake. His song was weird and his choice of clothing was like a flashback to NKOTB. Sundance finally showed some talent. His song was fun and he sang it very , very well. Chris S. has a great voice and his range is impressive. Chris R. was good but I can’t stand Justin Timberlake and unfortunately He reminds me of Britneys ex bf. Sanjaya looked like a boy among men tonight. Too bad , he seems like a sweet kid. I will watch AI6 but I will not vote because voting is meaningless.

  15. 515 madaboutu Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:32 am

I liked Sundance too. Tonite was the first time I watched this season. Chris Sligh and Sundance impressed me, but Sundance more because there was some passion and life in his delivery. The rest seemed to be bland, but maybe it was song choice. Not excited yet.

  16. 516 Little Boy Blue Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:46 am

    To Soul Patrol :

There is a long clip of Taylor performing HEAVEN KNOWS at the Mobile, Alabama concert tonight :

    GO TO :

    http://www.fox10tv.com/

At the left of the web page scroll down, you will see a Taylor Hicks video. CLICK ON IT. Fantastic performance.

  17. 517 madaboutu Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:50 am

Little Boy Blue……….I saw that earlier and thought it was great. He and his backup (is her name Melinda?) sound really good together. I read on GC that the sound system wasn’t up to par tonite and that is always a shame when that happens.

  18. 518 waxchip Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:57 am

I’m in the minority for sure, but Nicholas Pedro is my favorite male singer this season. Don’t care much for the others, and won’t be voting much this year as I can’t really take the time.

Yep, Nicholas has a different quality in his voice that the others lack. Think I’ll go throw a few more votes his way before the polls close.

  19. 519 weelassie Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:02 am

Well tonight was way better than the last time out for the guys.

I LOVE the song that Phil sang. It is one of my all time favorites but John Waite is much better than Phil and has a whole song to work with instead of a clip. He has a nice voice but I just can’t get past the bad looking head. My bad, i’m sorry.

Sundance did really well tonight. Finally.

I also liked Chris Sligh. There has to be something they can do with his hair. yikes.

I also thought Blake was unique and interesting. I think I liked it.
    He is one creative dude.

Jared is a cutie and it was middle of the road for me.

Nick-I like his voice and he is seems so sweet but he is forgettable.
He needs to do something more and I hope he can.

    AJ-eh.

Brandon is so likeable and has such a nice voice. I hope he makes it through this week.

Sanjaya-should never have made the top 24. He will be this years Kevin, unfortunately many more talented will go before he does.

who will leave: Nick and Brandon
who should leave: Sanjaya and AJ or Nick

  20. 520 stickitinmybutt Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:11 am

Cutting to the chase - after tonight the top 6 guys will be Sundance, Phil, ChriS, ChRis, Blake, and Brandon.

Random thoughts on others: Jared Schmared has a very average urban singing voice. Nothing memorable…remember Travis Tucker from season 4? Yeah, me either. He left after the 3rd week… We won’t remember Schmared 3 weeks from today.

Gay-J has a decent, slightly annoying voice, but there’s also something too feminine about the way he sings and performs (i.e. hand movements, “cowboy lasso” arm rolls, hip shakes/thrusts, etc.). I’m not hatin’ the gays (i’m one) he’s just too over the top. So as not to seem to judge him just by my gaydar, I really don’t think his vocal chops, artistry, presence, (or fanbase) quite compare to the top 6 guys. I will not be surprised when he leaves this week or next, nor will America.

I don’t have much to say about Stunnedjaya except it looks as if he’s as frightened when he goes on stage, as I am to sit through his performances. He’s at the point where I think he’ll break down if he gets voted through the next round (as John Stevens did the last elimination ceremony he escaped…shudder).

Who’s the 4th? Oh yeah. Nick Mehdro. That’s all I have to say. (yawn) Meh. (yawn).

I’m going to go 99% on my picks. I won’t say 100% because lord knows if Stunnedjaya’s fans are as freakin crazy as Chicken Little’s were. (Also if Brandon bombs again next week then that leaves his spot wide open).

  21. 521 madaboutu Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:15 am

weelassie………….I didn’t see Sanjaya before this week, but it seems that Kevin Covais, though not as cute, had a stronger voice and some spunk.

The Antonella scandal is starting to spread outside the Ai world:

Antonella Barba Nude Topless Photos, Veterans Memorial Disgrace
    By Mike Baron
    Feb 27, 2007

Antonella Barba nude photos have really stirred up some controversy, but what really bothers everyone isn’t the American Idol hopeful’s pictures, but rather the place they were taken. Antonella disrespected Veterans and their families all over the world by taking racy photos in the National World War II Memorial fountain.
Antonella, who still hasn’t been kicked off of American Idol for her disgraceful behavior, posed in the Memorial fountain, grabbing her shirt and revealing portions of her breasts. Most people on the idol boards say those pictures would be tolerable, even great, if they hadn’t been taken there.

Why there? How could someone rub their naked arse all over a fountain in a monument that was built to recognize the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the 16 million Americans who served in the armed forces of the United States.?

  23. 523 Tony Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:25 am

Blake was good, but they can ALL go home Thursday for all I care.

  24. 524 madaboutu Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:36 am

    Tony………. :clap_tb:

  25. 525 weelassie Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:46 am

Heck, I forgot to list my least favorite male singer. He impacted me so little. I don’t know why but Chris R rubs me wrong. I don’t think he has a good voice at all and looks like a cross between Justin Timberlicker (who is way overrated) and K-Fed. He just does nothing for me.

  26. 526 weelassie Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:48 am

    Mad,
I know what you mean! I was comparing him to Kevin because other better singers are going to be passed over so he can advance. Such as Gideon, Patrick Hall, Sway-heck almost all of them but Bobby Bennet:)

  27. 527 weelassie Feb 28th, 2007 at 2:53 am

I cannot believe Sanjaya is number 2 on dial idol. He was 4th last week. wow.

  28. 528 madaboutu Feb 28th, 2007 at 3:02 am

weelassie………..I think Sanjaya probably will be getting alot of teenybopper votes. Heck, maybe the voters have decided they want a real young winner this year. Just kidding…..I don’t have any idea except that I think a female will win this year.
I just finished reading some good recaps of the concert over at Grays. They make me happy for Taylor and that his grandma is able to go and see him and enjoy it so much.

  29. 529 Former_AI_Junkie Feb 28th, 2007 at 12:01 pm

Since there aren’t any real singing/performing standouts this ear in the male dept., I’m not surprised that the worst boys are getting the most votes. I mean, really- who do you folks think people should vote for? there isn’t one male this season who’s a great singer/performer. And there won’t be one, either. TPTB have definitely made this a girl’s year to win.
