X Factor – Week 5 – SHOCKING Results

X-Factor Week 5 Results!

LUCIE JONES WENT HOME. WTF???

Shocking results on X Factor this week.   Unbelievably, Lucie Jones, one of X Factor’s better singers, had the lowest number of votes this week.

The performance that sent her home, “This Is Me” by Demi Lovato, was easily one of her best of the competition.   It showcased Lucie as a viable, contemporary recording artist.   I thought she’d make the finals. Or, at the very least, be the last girl standing.

Simon, playing hardball, dismissed Lucie as a contestant who couldn’t win, but I think he was clearing the competition for his own team of 0ver-25’s.   Of course Simon knew who got the lowest number of votes, so instead of playing the meanie and saving the boys (who he’s dogged all season–would’ve looked totally hypocritical) he left it up to “the public.”

X Factor is cutthroat!

I don’t mind the boys still being in it, but not at the expense of Lucie. In a fair world, the hapless Lloyd Daniels or awkward Stacey Soloman would have been sent packing–or, even the terribly over-rated Jamie Archer.

But, X Factor is a voting show. And the people hath spoken….

  • Remember what the creep said about the coolest moment EVER on tv..

Ring of Fire’ .. Just sayin” ¦

Difference being that his opinion there was at least legitimate sounding, not just because I agreed with him but because he’s allowed to have one as long as it doesn’t do bad to anyone.

In the case of X Factor, then yeah it seems pretty unfair. I don’t watch this show much but after watching a few of John and Edward’s performances, if he really saved them over Lucie who was apparently really good, then yikes. Signs towards a bad future of the music industry are becoming more obvious.

Lorenzo, that’s so true. ROF was so vocally perfect, even tho’ a bit campy.
Can’t tell with these singing shows anymore. Just wait until the very last night and expect the unexpected. lol

  • Yes, didn’t Simon call ROF “self indulgent rubish”. Ha,Ha Ha, We got to see Simon, figuratively, eat crow! From that to Pimping!!!!!!
At least ROF is the most remembered song that hooked many of Adam’s, now loyal Fans except for, Maybe…..WLOL?.

Adam actually did a cover of the contestant” DILANA”, from “Rockstar Supernova” few years ago…..very,very similar. You can probably find it
on UTube if you are interested. SHE is Fantastic!!!Week after week she delivered incredible innovative covers and rocked like th fab maniac that
she is! You Go girl!!! and You Go BB!!!!!!!
So thanks for that memory Lorenzo.

  • So I think that was a little off topic. I apologise!
It was a bit of “WHAT” to see Lucie go at this stage. Honestly, I don’t find her exciting but she is sweet and sings Just OK for me.
John and Edward are soooo Baaad that they actually come off as
Vaudvalian (sp)? Therefore having a passably entertaining “ACT”!!!
Either that or they have that whole “Vote For The Worst” sensibility in the UK too!!!

I really don’t get the comparisons of Simon’s comments between AI and XF. They are completely different shows, in completely different countries.

  • Reflections On Life

This Is Me was Lucie’s most mediocre and unmemorable performance. After all her spot-on ballads followed by the awesome GnR SCoM (where she sang well, performed all over the stage, and showed some killer hottness), this was a total momentum-killer. so danii was right – it was danii’s fault and she let lucie down bigtime.

Ghostbusters was Jedwards best by far, and an excellent song choice for the boys. Singing about ghosts fits their schtick much better than singing about love or sex (eww). You can just picture a music-comedy album from them. Not pop stars but comedy stars that use music in their act.

So based on the 2 performances alone, the right choice was made.

But based on the entire run, honestly I did find it completely shocking. I thought Lucie was destined for the final 2 (or at least final 4). Has there ever been an AI early-elimination (i.e. top 6-12) that was so shocking?
(Maybe Carly, but she made a lot of bad choices IMO & dug her own grave, so wasn’t soooo shocking, though I loved her.)

Why is everyone on this thread saying this is Simon’s fault? Lucie was the lowest vote-getter, so this is Britain’s fault, not Simon’s. On AI, Lucie would have lost because she was the lowest vote-getter. On AI ppl complain about The Save, yet when Simon doesn’t use the save on XFactor and gives it to Britain, ppl complain that’s he’s being manipulative? LOL… Make up your mind ppl… Just sayin…

The judges voting is a sham. Each week, 2 judges vote for their own contestants, one votes honestly, and the final one throws it in to deadlock & defers to the public vote. The only time this didn’t / couldn’t happen was when Louie was absent and only 3 judges could vote, LOL. So this is a just ridiculous rouse – to make the bottom two sing then just defer to the public’s vote on the previous nite. Instead, just go by the public’s vote w/o this silly charade.

If Jedward was gone, their ratings would decline. People tune in for the car-wreck factor. Enough said.

Jedward & Lloyd remind me of Jasmine Trias & Diane DeGarmo mowing down all the good singers in Season 3 (JHud, LaToya, etc). Each week was a total WTF that season. Thank goodness Fantasia managed to win despite that VFTW tsunami.

(Sorry I wrote so much, but this was just a huge shocker!)

  • Hey MJ, if you would to care, Danii confirmed that Lucie Jones now has a twitter! Follow Lucie @LucieJones1.

  • Simon used the excuse of “letting the voters decide” twice in a row to cover the fact that he wanted the inferior singer to stay. Last week he wanted Rachel to go (even though to everybody she was a million times better than Lloyd) because she was too similar to last years winner Alexandra Burke, and LLoyd is real cute and keeps the tweens watching and voting. This week he wanted the twins to stay because despite the fact that he has slammed them in the past he now realizes that their bratty comedy schtick may have more potential than finding a good singer that fades into oblivion in a couple of months. He’s probably thinking of managing them as a comedy duo ala Ant and Dec. When he lets it go to the “public vote” he is trying to save face and get his way at the same time.

  • If you are hooked to the X Factor I have just found out that you can book this year’s finalist for live shows and events with Industry Music Group by following the link: http://industrymusicgroup.co.uk/book-the-x-factor-2009-live

  • @ bannanafish. Hah, You are very cynical! While I hate to admit it, you are also very right. Simon has done this same move for the last 2 weeks, and knows exactly what the outcome will be. That is what the
gabfest with the titular head of the show was about. I think he was getting the info on the vote. we all know Simon likes to manipulate ,and he has the perfect forum for it on the X Factor, as he is really the puppetmaster there.!! TV rateings and making money off the novelty act that might make him more than the cost of promoting a possibly 3rd rate singer who does’t take and disappears into the ether.WHOoooOOO!
