Eliminated from X Factor: Danyl Johnson
Olly Murs, Joe McElderry and Stacey Soloman advance to next week’s final.
Once again, the early, heavily pimped front-runner does not take the crown. Danyl suffered from the hype, some bad press, and performances that were less than stellar.
In fact, tonight, in his singout, Danyl was especially nasally and under-pitch…
Eh, Danyl will be fine. I bet Simon signs him anyway.
I expect Joe to walk away with the crown next week. Although he’s not my cuppa, he’s got the best voice and is the most marketable out of the 3 left, so he’ll be a good winner. Man, Olly bursting into tears when he heard he was safe tugged at my heart strings…

LOL. Yeah I chose Kris from top 36 (MITM), Jeanine from the first dances airing, and Joe from the audition. I liked that Cheryl Cole thought he was cute from that audition and love the song “Dance With My Father”
I don’t follow this show at all, but I just wanted to see what this guy Daryl Johnson has. What I found reminded me why I like Kris so much — his “Man in the Mirror” was way, way better than Daryl’s — impassioned and heartfelt, with soaring sustained notes, and not a trace of Johnson’s nasality.
Just my opinion…….
The problem is that Simon has a habit of trying to re-create something.
I think that’s why AI is better because at least the singers pick their own song. It should be interesting for X-factor US version.
Please Simon, don’t let Ollie sing Heartless.
by the way, the Miracle on State rendition of “Man in the Mirror” by Kris and band is fantastic! I think both Mattie and Kris sound their best on acoustic backup…

You know what, at this point I’ll be surprised if he *doesn’t* do that.
yeah i agree. Danyl has a good voice but lacks artistry. When i heard his MITM, like colette, it made me remember why i like Kris so much.
I think that Joe McElderry has old fashioned vocals and it doesn’t speak to me. Stacey has a good voice but is not ready artistically. Left is Ollie; i rather like him; he was very good on the Beatle songs i remember
Yes! He keeps trying to recreate lightening in a bottle by making his favored X-Factor contestants sing songs chosen by successful AI contestants, who — by the way — chose the songs for themselves based on their own abilities and preferences. He made that Austin Drage fellow sing Cook’s “Billie Jean” and he’s made Danyl sing Kris’ “Man in the Mirror.”
That’s why I’m puzzled about what he’s going to do with an American X-Factor. He won’t be able to do the same thing without the American audience noticing and mocking him (and them) mercilessly.
did anyone notice in Gaga’s performance at the 4:15 mark, she grabs her male dancer’s head and pulls it in towards her and then….the camera cuts away! a second later, you see the dancer’s head moving away from her crotch! hmmmm….lol.
What?! Is this now a dance move, like the macarena? Should I be shoving people’s faces into my crotch at weddings?
I can’t say I’m sorry Danyl’s gone. Out of the 3 that are left, I think Joe should have it but that’s just me.
Seriously ppl, I doubt Simon even considered Kris having sung MITM on AI. It was NOT a memorable moment for anyone except Kris and his most ardent fans and/or more obsessive AI fans. If Simon had had Danyl sing heartless, then I’d agree with you that Simon is trying to recreate stuff. Also that girl who placed 4th in x factor last season Diana Vickers sang MITM too last season which happened before Kris FYI. Also Simon barely considered Kris during the comp, I doubt he’s considered him much afterwards. Simon probably couldn’t even tell you half the songs that contestants have sung. It’s the “wierdo” fans like us who remember this stuff.
And for ppl saying Ollie should win. Seriously? This is why these talent comps have such bizzare winners half the time. None of the three are mind-blowingly brilliant but clearly based on image (looks) and vocal abilities, the title has to go to Joe. Olly is a mediocre talent. He’s got corny stage moves, that are fun in this setting, the show, but would work no where else and Stacey has awful presentation skills, she comes across as meek when she’s not singing. If Joe loses, it’s a case of the public being retarded again!!! (cough, Kris Allen, cough)
Leaving aside “Man in the Middle,” no one on this planet can ever tell me that Simon — all on his own — came up with the Chris Cornell rendition of “Billie Jean” that Cook did. He copied Cook and foisted that on one of his boys. No doubt about it. Mr. Unchained Melody/First Time Ever I Saw Your face had no idea that rendition existed before Cook performed it. No IDEA at all.
Still, I think he is so narrow in his focus that he truly uses AI and their contestants to try and inject some life into this British show. It’s becoming an also run in my opinion. No matter if one preceded the other.

Simon does remember the songs. He tried to recreate a David Cook moment with Billie Jean last year or so. Kris has been playing MITM to rave reviews for some time now. Kris picked a great MJ song and all the more poignant since Michael’s untimely death. Simon may act cavalier, but he remembers more than he lets on.

Same story and opinion here. this guy is one of the top 4 in the UK? I guess it’s a smaller Kingdom than I thought.
Way under, especially in the first verse. Like he couldn’t hear–so flat.
So weird seeing that shot of Simon all pissed off that Danyl is out. This guy Danyl doesn’t seem to be very talented. there are oodles of far more talented people who Simon has been consistently unsupportive of on AI. (I’m thinking of Syesha Mercado and Allison Iraheta specifically, but there are plenty.) Such a weird double standard that Simon practices–is he really that much of a UK national that it effects his judgement that much?
Just watched the group song to get a feel for the remaining contestants. they all sounded almost identical to me–And they were lip synching, right?
Kris I chose top 11, Jeanine I chose after Phillip left since he was my favorite and they were partners. Joe I chose just today because I hardly watch the show. Only thing about Joe is that for the most part he struggles with more upbeat stuff. I kinda liked Sway, but Don’t Stop Believin’ and his part in Don’t Stop The Music were less than stellar. But other than that, I like him the most. I like the guys with the laid-back, really nice personalities like Archie and Kris, I find that when they sing they’re easier for me to connect with on some level. Joe also had the most interesting vocals of anyone in the top 4. I adore Joe.

I agree that Simon blew this guy(Danyl) up to imposible standards from his first audition. I probably feel more sympathy for the guy than most of the
peeps here……, but I did appreciate that he was very gracious in handling
his loss. He, in no way had a consistantly good voice.
Joe has the voice, and should be the winner based on singing. His performance has improved over the last couple of shows. Ollie has the
performance ease, but certainly not the voice consistantcy. Joe will be
a much better recording pop singer. Still I enjoy Ollie ( cheese’n all)!
All I have to say about Stacie is “potential” and NO, NO, NO, not ready!!!!
I don’t understand why everyone in the UK thinks Danyl will be popular over here??? He can belt out notes, but is off pitch most of the time he tries to sing less forcefully. I realize autotune does wonders, but it can’t help you in a LIVE performance. Can’t imagine he will work well over here…not sure where they get this from.
This is my first xfactor…can someone explain to me how the upcoming Final Week works? Someone said they sing 5 songs??? and then someone else said there is a duet with an established artist??….someone else said that 2 of them have a sing-off with a chosen Final Song (this year rumored to be The Climb???)….I’m confused as to how all this works, and how it will all fit into one weekend? Help??!
Olly Murs, Stacey Soloman and Joe Mceldery are the final three. Each are excellent vocalists in their own way and this will be a very tough call for the public to make. One person stands out to us all. Little Joe, he has the looks & the personality and has a great chance of winning. Every week he has had good comments and is cheered every week by the audience. He has not once been in the bottom two.
We wish them all good luck and lets see who wins.
