It was a very very good night for Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban at Wednesday’s (June 7) 2017 CMT Music Awards. The American Idol season 4 winner and former judge left the event with several statues. Keith and Carrie took Collaborative Video of the Year for their hit single “The Fighter.” Carrie also won Female Video of the Year for “Church Bells” while Keith took both Male Video of the Year and the big prize, Video of the Year for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Carrie broke her own record tonight for most wins in the awards’ show history with a grand total of 17.

Additionally, Keith and Carrie performed a re-worked version of “The Fighter” that started off with Keith on guitar. The acoustic setting gave Carrie the opportunity to show off her vocals. Eventually, a steel guitar entered the mix before the band cranked it up to finish. Fans who didn’t care for the pop flourishes on the recorded version may like this more intimate, rock-infused take.
