Adele was the big winner Sunday night at the 2017 Grammys, picking up FIVE awards for Album of the Year (25), Song and Record of the Year (Hello), Pop Solo Performance (Hello) and Pop Album of the Year (25).
She literally swept her categories–practically apologizing to Beyonce who only walked away with Contemporary R&B Album of the Year (Lemonade) and Best Video (Formation).
However, Adele was especially emotional when it came to singing a tribute to George Michael. Performing a ballady version of “Fast Love,” the singer stopped partway through. She swore, apologized to the show’s producer and then asked to start again.
“I’m sorry for swearing, I’m sorry for staring again…I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him,” said the singer. She makes it through the second time around, without a flaw. The tears came afterward. Watch the performance below.
