2020 ACM Awards Nominations: Gabby Barrett, Carrie Underwood Nods

The Academy of Country Music announced today the nominations for the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring the biggest names and emerging talent in the Country Music industry. Reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and 15-time ACM Award-winner Keith Urban will host the show for the first time. The 55th ACM Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 5 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on CBS.

Nominees were revealed online via the ACM Awards Nominations Digital Press Conference held Thursday morning (Feb 27). Keith along with American Idol and DWTS alum and ACM Award-winning artist Lauren Alaina, this year’s ACM Radio Award National On-Air Personality of the Year winner and American Idol mentor Bobby Bones, Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura and Kevin Frazier, CBS This Morning’s Gayle King and reigning ACM New Female Artist of the Year Ashley McBryde all announced select categories via video postings to the Academy’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. It was also announced today Lauren Alaina will be participating in this year’s telecast as the official Backstage Announcer for the 55th ACM Awards.

American Idol’s Carrie Underwood is up for two awards–Entertainer of the Year and Female artist of the Year. American Idol judge Luke Bryan is nominated alongside Carrie in the EOTY category. American Idol 2018 2nd runner up Gabby Barrett is nominated for New Female Artist of the Year. The Voice alum Morgan Wallen is nominated in the New Male Artist of the Year category. “God’s Country” a single from The Voice coach Blake Shelton is nominated in three categories: Single, Song and Video of the Year.
