2021 Emmy Awards Primetime Winners List – RuPaul WIns it All

RuPaul Wins Emmy

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards air on CBS tonight (Sept 19). The event will be held in downtown Los Angeles outdoors at L.A. Live entertainment complex. The show begins a 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.

Last weekend, the bulk of the awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. RuPaul’s Drag Race dominated the reality awards. Derek Hough won for best choreography in an unscripted show. Check out the winners HERE.

The remaining awards will be given during primetime. Comedian/actor, Cedric the Entertainer will host.

RuPaul’s Drag Race won the Outstanding Competition Program Emmy. That win made it RuPaul’s 11th Emmy and makes him the most decorated Black artist in Emmy Awards history.

The Voice, nominated in 7 categories, was shut out of all of them. RuPaul won 6 Emmys this year alone. The Amazing Race (4), America’s Got Talent (2) and World of Dance (1) were also shut out. The Masked Singer won a juried Emmy award for costumes.

Dancer, Actress, Choreographer, Director Debbie Allen wins the Governors Award

Debbie starred in the Fame movie and TV series. She guest judged, choreographed and mentored on So You Think You Can Dance.

Cedric The Entertainer opens the show with a tribute to Biz Markie. Rita Wilson Raps. LL Cool J, Little Dicky and others joined in.

Seth Rogan calls out the Emmys for being crowded, maskless, and not really outdoors.

“We’re in a hermetically-sealed tent right now,” Rogen said. “I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided.”

Later, the show made a point of insisting that CBS was strictly following COVID-19 protocols and keeping everyone safe.
