2024 Golden Globes: American Idol’s Fantasia Barrino nominated in Best Actress in a musical or comedy
Congratulations to American Idol season 3 winner, Fantasia Barrino, for her Golden Globe nomination. She stars as Celie in the new film adaption of the Broadway musical, The Color Purple. Interestingly, the film itself was not nominated in the musical or comedy category. However, Danielle Brooks earned a nod for her role in the film in the Supporting Female role in a motion picture.
The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, January 7 at 8 pm ET/5pm PT on a new network, CBS. Previously The Golden Globes aired on NBC. The broadcast will also stream on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs)*.
The nominations were announced by Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama who presented nominees for each of the 27 award categories.
