ABC unveiled its fall schedule at the network’s Upfronts presentation for advertisers on Tuesday (May 17). Bachelor in Paradise will take over Monday nights where Dancing with The Stars previously reigned since 2005. Disney renewed the dance competition for two more seasons, but it is moving to the streamer Disney+.
BIP will air on Mondays and Tuesday nights. That’s four hours of Bachelor and Bachelorette alums making fools of themselves in Mexico. The Bachelor franchise are the highest rated unscripted series on ABC. The network also plans to air Monday night football games in the slot.
Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment, told Variety that “…in terms of ratings, the show was kind of equal to or exceeded the Live + Same Day ratings of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ For stability of schedule and size and flow of audience, it was the perfect show to bring in.”
ABC renewed American Idol for a 6th season on the network, its 21st overall. But as always, the singing show won’t air until midseason.
