America’s Got Talent: The Champions season 2 heads into the finale! And after perusing the schedule, it appears that it will be a two parter. On Monday Feb. 10, ten finalists are set to perform, including four golden buzzer and six semifinal acts. The finalists will perform for judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Alesha Dixon, and Howie Mandel. America’s Superfans will vote to determine the winner. Terry Crews hosts.
Then, on Monday Feb. 17, special guests will take the stage with the finalists for memorable performances before the ultimate champion is crowned. Spoilers who attended the taping report that the current America’s Got Talent winner, Kodi Lee, performed. Also rumored to perform: Shin Lim, Colin Cloud, Lindsey Stirling, Kiss, and Travis Barker.
One Golden Buzzer was chosen by a judge during each of the four audition episodes. The four Golden Buzzer acts advanced straight to the finale without competing in the semifinal. The remaining six contestants performed in and survived last week’s 12 act semifinal.
Check out a list of the 10 finalists below. Fans might need a refresher on the Golden Buzzer acts considering that viewers have only seen them perform once in the competition.
Golden Buzzers
Angelina Jordan – Jazz Singer – Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer – Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent back in 2014. The thirteen year old wowed the judges with a…wait for it…jazz rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Jazzing up BoRap is a pretty gutsy move, and I’m not sure that it worked entirely. But it did get the judges’ attention. Angelina is still a few years away from mastering her jazz chops. – AUDITION
Boogie Storm – Dance Group – Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer – The Star Wars inspired dance group were finalists on Britain’s Got Talent 2016. AND UGH SIMON chose this fairly talent-free troup as his golden buzzer. Even more annoying, the pick was set up as Simon stealing away Howie’s Golden Buzzer. SO contrived. Joke acts are OK if entertaining. (See: Hans). But Boogie Storm’s act is basically stomping around the stage for a few minutes, and that’s it. For some reason, Simon just loves them. – AUDITION
The Silhouettes – Shadow Dance Group – Alesha Dixon’s Golden Buzzer – This shadow dance group were finalists on AGT way back in 2006. The troup is run by the same woman, but most of the original dancers are now all grown up. These shadow dancers specialize in schmaltzy story telling. For folks who enjoy having their heartstrings yanked–The Silhouettes are their jam. It’s not mine, really. But I will say, I was impressed by the routine about a dog that used some pretty clever stagecraft to create the illusion that there WAS a dog onstage.- AUDITION
V.Unbeatable – Dance Group – Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer – These young dancers were finalists on America’s Got Talent 2019. And there are those fans who believe the group was robbed when singer Kodi Lee took the crown. The act combines dancing and dangerous tumbling and acrobatics. I mean, how high can an 8 year old boy be thrown into the air? Pretty dang high. STAY SAFE YOUNG MAN! – AUDITION
Semifinalists
Alexa Lauenburger – Dog Act – Formerly a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent 2019, Alexa is only 11 years old, yet the tricks her dogs are trained to perform are impressive. The puppers ended the audition performance with a long conga line. Doggos doing the conga give me life. However, I wonder exactly how involved the young performer is with actually training the animals. Maybe it doesn’t matter. She handles them beautifully. Alexa – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
Duo Transcend – Trapeze/Roller skating Duo – This married couple were also finalists on America’s Got Talent 2018. Their first appearance was notable for the husband dropping his partner during the act. Nevertheless, the two advanced anyway and eventually redeemed themselves. Also, the husband was losing his eyesight. But thanks to the national exposure the show brought, found top notch doctors who stopped the disease’s progression. Now, the duo are unstoppable, upping their game with blindfolds and roller skates each time they take the stage. – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
Hans – Singer/Dancer/Musician – Hans only made it to the Quarterfinals on America’s Got Talent 2018. But luckily for Hans, the judges advanced him after his audition. His German accordionist schtick is probably not for everyone, but I find it hilarious. He’s so over the top. Here’s hoping Hans finale performance is the most audacious yet. – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
Marcelito Pomoy – Singer – The winner of Pilipinas Got Talent 2011 has an odd talent. His huge range allows him to sing in both female and male vocal registers. The trick is that he can duet with himself. It feels super gimmicky to me. If he just sang a song, it wouldn’t be impressive at all, as his operatic singing talent is just average. Yet, the judges just love him. It’s just not my cup of java. – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
Sandou Trio Russian Bar – Russian Bar – This trio were America’s Got Talent 2011 semifinalists. They blew their chance at the finals with a risky routine that involved singing and an upside-down piano. But they more than redeemed themselves on AGT:Champions with two thrilling appearances, one more dangerous than the next. The acrobats are among some of my favorite AGT acts. I am happy that two advanced. – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
Tyler Butler-Figueroa – Violinist – He’s a 12 year old violinist who beat cancer. And now he’s out inspiring other young people to follow their dreams. When he competed on America’s Got Talent 2019, it was clear that his backstory was stronger than his musicianship. Still, he’s a sweet kid, who seems to put a lot of good out into the world. – AUDITION – SEMIFINAL
