American Idol alum Alejandro Aranda will no longer go by the moniker ‘Scarypoolparty’
After Alejandro Aranda finished American Idol season 17 as the runner-up, he released music under the moniker “Scarypoolparty.” But as he begins a new musical era, the singer songwriter will now go by his real name.
Goodbye Scarypoolparty, hello Alejandro Aranda! Alejandro will kick off the new era with his next single “Pieces” out on July 14th.
The California native announced the name change on social media. “The last six years have been a dream,” he wrote. “Scarypoolparty was a fun and amazing time. But I am officially closing that chapter of my career. But I’m so excited for this new chapter.” The singer added, “Cause now I’m going by my real name as an artist. Alejandro Aranda. Thank you for all the support “
“I have a very specific direction, and I want to put things out in my own way.”
“I have so much to share with you all. Dozens of songs that I’m waiting to release.” Alejandro wrote in an Instagram post last month. “I have a very specific direction, and I want to put things out in my own way. Thank you all for supporting me and being patient while I am in the next phase of my musical journey. “Pieces” will be the first release in over year and I’m working on making sure that’s it’s worth the wait! Just wanted to say thank you and I’ll talk to y’all very very soon!!!”

Alejandro’s socials are still branded “Scarypoolparty” but he has a new website alejandroarandamusic.com that’s pretty empty so far. In comments, he assures his fans that they can still find him in all the usual places. “You can still keep up with me here, don’t worry. Thank you for your support!!”
Interestingly, The Weeknd has similarly announced at the beginning of his new musical era that he’ll be releasing music under his real name Abel Tesfaye. Maybe it’s a trend. Nevertheless, there is nothing like a fresh start.
Alejandro Aranda impressed American Idol fans and judges with original songs
Alejandro Aranda finished American Idol season 17 in 2019 in second place behind winner Laine Hardy. The young singer-songwriter from Pomona, Calif impressed fans and the judges with his creative original songs such as “Out Loud,” “10 Years,” “Millennial Love,” and “Tonight.”
His debut album, Exit Form, arrived on November 22, 2019 on Hollywood Records, while his second album, Doom Hologram dropped on September 4, 2020. The singer’s first EP, L.A., came out in 2021. His third album, The Act of Forgiveness, was released in 2021. After his third album, Alejandro and Hollywood Records/19 parted ways.
The singer has talked frankly about struggling with mental health and confidence issues. A bout of anxiety kept him off the plane to New York City the day after the American Idol finale in 2019. The singer nearly quit the show. He also canceled tour dates to deal with his mental health issues.
