Alejandro Aranda aka Scarypoolparty Drops Thought Provoking “Millennial Love” Music Video
American Idol 2019 runner up Alejandro Aranda, who goes by the musical non de plume Scarypoolparty, debuted the official video for his current single “Millennial Love” via YouTube Premiere on Wed (March 25).
With the help of director Hunter Holder, Alejandro’s video is according to Hollywood Records press release a “stark wake up call for his generation to let go of the dopamine high from social media and pay attention to what is actually going on in the world around them.”
“I wanted to make a video to bring awareness to our communities,” says Alejandro. “We need to look out for each other. We need to bring light to those that need help.”
In the video, Alejandro wanders the Southern California streets, his face buried in his smart phone, amid scenes depicting homelessness, climate catastrophes, and blight. Statistics such as “Nearly 60,000 LA county residents are experiencing homelessness,” flash across the screen
Making his mark as the first artist to perform the most original songs on American Idol, Alejandro spent 2019 on the ascent after netting nearly 21 million views during his audition. In just a few short months he was gracing the mainstages at the likes of Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits and selling out a 15-date solo acoustic tour followed by a 30-date nationwide headlining tour.
He capped his monumental year with the release of his debut LP ‘Exit Form’ and announced his first-ever European tour (which has since been postponed due to coronavirus concerns). He kicked off 2020 with his national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live (where he performed “Millennial Love” and “Beneath The Skin”) and announced runs on the now postponed 2020 festival circuit, which included stops at Hangout, Bonnaroo, Kaboo, MadCool and Outside Lands (to name a few).
