Alejandro Aranda (Scarypoolparty) Drops New Song “Home” Music Video

On Friday singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alejandro Aranda aka Scarypoolparty released his new single “Home”. The track blends organic acoustic elements with electronic samples but beneath its intoxicating pop veneer, Scarypoolparty delivers a dark meditation on longing and loneliness.

The official music video for “Home” is also out. Directed by Krizia Vega (Lindsey Stirling, Sabrina Carpenter), the video was conceptualized by the American Idol season 16 runner-up. The cinematic new video portrays a storybook millennial romance; loving someone so deeply while also battling your own demons. Whether it be depression or disassociation, the all-consuming vice leaves the other person just as broken.

“That song was very much a personal song,” says Alejandro. “The song’s about relationship problems and seeing it from the outside perspective and a person not wanting to leave their home. I had this idea of having your emotions inside a house that you built in your soul.”

Written and produced by Scarypoolparty and SAWYR (Taylor Swift, ZAYN, Nicki Minaj) “Home” is a nod back to his singer-songwriter roots, highlighting his bold approach to songwriting which has already earned comparisons to the genre-blending styles of Post Malone, Muse, Deftones and Radiohead.

Alejandro went underground for awhile amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Otherwise, he probably would have been touring. Happy to see him back with a new song and video.

In 2020, he released Doom Hologram, the follow up to his 2019 debut LP Exit Form. This cinematic, concept project meshed modern electronics, experimental instrumentals and visuals with his viscerally honest lyrics.

Interesting that the official press release never mentions American Idol, yet he’s dropping the song the weekend of the premiere. Also, the song is very accessible. Maybe Hollywood Records will release it as a single
