The Amazing Race season 30 premiered on CBS Wednesday (January 4) and according to CBS, the competitive reality show had its largest premiere since 2013. The 2018 winter premiere is up a +70% in viewers and +77% in Adults 18-49 from last season making it Wednesday’s #1 program in viewers. That’s pretty amazing considering the show was previously on life support, shunted to Friday night for a spell, where shows go to die. CBS cutting the series back to once a season may have helped the series survive.
The show’s 29th season aired from March through June 2017 and generally pulled .08-.09 in the key demo and around 6 million viewers for each episode. Last night’s premiere earned a 1.6 and 7.31 viewers. It came in third for the night behind ABC’s Modern Family and FOX’s 911.
