Pia Toscano has filed for divorce from dancer Jimmy R.O. Smith after three years of marriage.
According to court records obtained by The Blast, Pia filed for divorce on January 6th, 2021, citing irreconcilable differences.
It is unclear if the singer is asking for spousal support from Smith. The estranged couple are childless, so child support will not be an issue. Additionally, whether or not Pia and Jimmy have property and assets to divide will be determined at a later date.
In January, 2017, Pia and Jimmy got married in New York. On the day of her wedding, Pia Toscano wrote on her Instagram, “I married my best friend today. I am on a cloud 9.” “I’ve dreamed of this magical day since I was 4-years-old, and I hoped to find my King,” Pia told ET before saying “I do.”
“Today, all of my childhood dreams come true,” she continued. “I am marrying the absolute love of my life in front of my closest family and friends. I couldn’t be happier!”
Pia met Jimmy while both employed by Jennifer Lopez on her Las Vegas residency. Pia, who competed on American Idol 10 while Jennifer sat on the judges panel, served as one of Jlo’s backup singers. Jimmy worked as one of Jennifer’s backup dancers for years. The couple became engaged in January 2016, and married one year later.
