Tonight, in an emotional send-off, C.J. Harris was eliminated on American Idol 13, after receiving the fewest votes. From Jasper, AL, the 23-year-old sang “American Woman” and “Whatever It Is” on last night’s performance show.
CJ’s elimination was a very emotional moment! It was so touching to watch his fellow Idols circle him in a giant hug!
Watch CJ’s Idol Journey package. It’s cool to hear all the different versions of Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway.”
For his last time on the Idol stage, CJ performed “Can’t You See” by the Marshall Tucker Band. It was a very emotional performance with everyone from his fellow contestants to Jennifer Lopez shedding a tear. CJ was so emotional he couldn’t get through the entire song. That’s when his fellow Idol circled him in a giant hug, with CJ’s parents eventually joining him on stage.
Mama Harris said that she felt a lot of pride watching her son. When Ryan asked him what he’d remember most from the experience, CJ mentioned meeting some AMAZING people, his fellow Idols, whom he can’t wait to hit the road with this summer.
CJ shared his feelings about being eliminated with reporters post-show:
“I mean, it did hurt, of course — it’s going to hurt anybody at this point when you made it this far,” Harris admits. “I’m extremely proud. I’m not a guy that just thinks about myself or anything like that. I’m extremely proud of those people that made the top five and I’m just going to keep pushing with my career. I’m going to make the best out of it. I’m definitely not done, I’m going to keep going.”
