The American Idol judges spent Wednesday and Thursday this week, auditioning season 14 hopeful in New Orleans.
It was a particularly special time for judge Harry Connick Jr., as he was born and raised in NOLA and cut his teeth as a young musician there. It must have been a great experience to audition and advise young in talent in his hometown.
Speaking of great experiences–what a thrill is must have been for a young singer named Jess, when Harry agreed to a post-audition jam on the piano. The hopeful had just finished receiving THREE yesses from the panel after accompanying herself on the room’s baby grand.
When the young singer suggests a jam using technical terms, Harry jokes, “I don’t really know what that means! I don’t really talk music!” She suggest something “happy” before they launch into a NOLA inspired blues ditty.
“That was so crazy!” says Jess afterward. Added fellow judge, Jennifer Lopez, “That was so him.”
