we’ve all read the reports that Ryan Seacrest will return for the 14th season of the recently renewed American Idol, and that the current panel of judges–Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. are also set to return. Now, Deadline is reporting that FOX plans to trim American Idol’s hours when it returns to the schedule next January.
American Idol had been airing about 60 hours a season. Discussions are ongoing, but Deadline reports that we’ll likely see a mixture of one show per week and two editions.
According to the publication, Ryan Seacrest just closed his deal to return, while Jennifer, Keith and Harry are in different stages of negotiation.
