When next Thursday’s American Idol 14 live performance/results episode airs on March 19, we’ll be treated to another round of “Songs from the Movies,” according to TV Line sources.
A tried and true American Idol theme, “Songs from the Movies,” in its past incarnations, included any song featured in any prominent film, or featured on a movie soundtrack. The song didn’t necessarily have to exist as a theme song. The result, is a huge pool of songs for the contestants to choose from.
I expect the theme to be paired with some heavy pimping of one 20th Century FOX film or another, set to come out next week. Maybe the kids will attend a premiere!
During next week’s telecast, one contestant will be eliminated, leaving 10 contestants to perform their favorite movie song. After next week, American Idol switches to a Wednesdays-only schedule of live performance/results shows, until the season finale airs on Tuesday, May 12 (9/8c) and Wednesday, May 13 (8/7c).
