Tonight, Ryan Seacrest announced the Top Seven finalists on American Idol 14 – Quentin Alexander, Clark Beckham, Joey Cook, Nick Fradiani, Jax, Tyanna Jones and Rayvon Owen. Qaasim Middleton and Rayvon Owen were in the bottom two and America had the chance to save one of them with the Idol Fan Save via Twitter.
Rayvon Owen received the most votes from the Idol Fan Save and therefore continues in the competition, while Quassim Middleton, from Brooklyn, NY, was eliminated.
Also on tonight’s show, it was announced that the talented finalists who make it to the Top Five will join the “American Idol Live!” U.S. tour, beginning this summer. Dates and cities, including Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Nashville and many more, to be announced next week. Tickets will go on sale beginning Friday, April 17.
Next week, Wednesday, April 15 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the finalists will perform on an “American Classics”-themed show, which features songs selected by the viewers at home! Fans were called to action and asked to suggest “American Classics,” using the Twitter hashtag #IdolClassic, creating a list of songs from which the competitors could choose.
No official word on a mentor or guest performer for next week. Stay tuned for more info. We’ll post it as we get it! When American Idol was asking for tweet suggestions, the examples seemed to be songs that everybody loved, by beloved homegrown artists like Bruce Springsteen, Did you tweet any suggestions to the show? If you did, what were they? Tell us in comments!
