American Idol 2018 – Auditions 3 Poll – Vote for Your Favorites

AMERICAN IDOL -

American Idol’s 3rd night of auditions was the weakest of the three. Most of the previews for the week so far have featured Monday’s episode. I’m not sure what the thinking is there. Ratings for Sunday’s show is higher, so why not highlight the best then? It might even entice some singing shoe fans to switch over from The Voice on Monday.

In any case. American Idol didn’t even trend while it was airing. Yeah, March Madness has begun in earnest, filling up the top trends on twitter. Still. After Idol was thoroughly beat down by The Voice in head to head competition, coupled with some bad publicity, the ratings could get ugly. We’ll see.

There were some good performances. My favorites were from Amelia Harris and Maddie Zahm. Amelia, in particular, strikes me as a true original. From her look to her vocals–she’s a stylish gal.

A couple of thoughts on the judges: PLEASE Katy. Quit tossing off the “you’re Top 10!” line to random hopefuls. I’d really like Idol to be a hyperbole-free zone. And it mostly is! I appreciate the experience that Lionel brings to the panel. He’s a great mentor. And although Luke’s getting slagged around these parts. Underneath his bland exterior, and propensity to always say “yes,” he’s capable of making astute observations. I thought he was particularly good with the young Jonny Brenns, demonstrating how he should amplify his vocal.

Now, it’s time to vote for your favorites.
