UPDATE: American Idol has released the duet pairings today (April 4), so I’m bumping up this post. The Top 24 solos and Celebrity Duets are spread out over two weeks/4 episodes with solos airing on Sunday and duets airing on Monday. Group 1 performs this weekend (April 8 and 9). Group 2 will take the stage the following week (April 15 and 16). Additionally, nationally syndicated host of iHeartMedia’s syndicated “The Bobby Bones Show” Bobby Bones will mentor the Top 24 as they prepare to sing solos.
Here they are. Spoilers from the American Idol Top 24 solo and celebrity duets which were filmed on March 2 and 3 in Los Angeles.
According to @IdolSpoilers (TIP) The Top 24 were split up into two groups. Each contestant sang a solo and a celebrity duet in front of the judges and a studio audience. Check out this post for photos and videos from the taping (but keep spoiler talk here!)
Additionally, Idol is following the season 15 format, according to TIP. The judges will cut 5 girls and 5 boys from the Top 24. The Top 14 will then be cut to a Top 10 (not a Top 12 as originally reported).
In season 15, voting didn’t begin until The Top 14. The judges advanced 4 contestants, and viewers got to watch performances and vote through the remaining 6. Will the format be EXACTLY the same? We’ll see.
