American Idol landed in Hawaii over the weekend. Judge Lionel Richie performed a concert Friday night (Jan 25), and then it was right to work with his fellow coaches, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan!. As previously reported, the American Idol 2019 Showcase Round is taking place at the Disney Aulani Resort and Spa in Honolulu.

It’s all going down now! And as in previous season, the Idol Pad insiders are spoiling contestant names. So far, there are 36 contestants rumored to have made the showcase round. I suspect the list will be longer? So watch this space for updates.
There are a couple of notable returnees, including Alyssa Ragu and Laine Hardy. Laine was a surprise boot at the Top 50 last season. I am not at all surprised the show brought him back. He just needed a bit more experience. Actually, Alyssa’s dismissal was a real head scratcher. Hopefully they’ll both go farther in the competition this year.
UPDATE: Apparently, there are 40 Showcase contestants. We’re missing four. Also, TIP has added the song choices for most of the contestants. As always, there will be updates.
