The American Idol bus continues its journey to Savannah, Georgia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California, on a new Idol episode airing Sunday Feb. 23 (8:00–10:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. Singers from across the country will be vying for that Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
In Savannah, the judges take to the streets as one Idol hopeful sings for her life, while the Philadelphia Eagles cheer team visits the Washington, D.C., auditions as one of their own goes in front of the judges. In Los Angeles, another hopeful unleashes her unique love for sardines with an original song during a must-see audition. An emergency in Sunriver results in a visit from local firefighters who save the day, then celebrate with a victory song alongside the judges.
Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next American Idol are all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Ryan Seacrest returns as host, while radio personality Bobby Bones continues his role as in-house mentor.

Claire Jolie Goodman – Chicago based singer/actress will graduate from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2022. From Claire’s Facebook Bio: “Claire has been performing for 11 years; training in acting, voice, dance, and comedy. Her favorite experiences include playing Laurie Morton (Brighton Beach Memoirs), Wilbur (Charlotte’s Web) and appearing on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”.- Instagram – Facebook – Millionaire appearance (She was a 14 year old “Whiz Kid” with a specialty in geography. She mentions being a theater kid.)
Curt Jones & Hannah Prestridge – Country Duo Treble Soul – This married couple come to the audition together, but obviously have to audition apart. There are solo photo in the gallery. In one shot, Hannah is crying as Katy comforts her, so there is obviously a backstory too. Darius Rucker gave the duo a scholarship to the Musician’s Institute. All three were on Celebrity Undercover Boss, and…it had something to do with Rucker dressed as an old man? “After 3 months of performing together, Jones and Prestidge found out they were expecting” They put out an EP in 2018 titled Truth. Hm The Voice castss duos and trios and seems like a better fit? – Website – Facebook – Youtube
Cyniah Elise – Twenty year old singer/actress from Georgia. She wrote on her Facebook “I aspire to change the world with my love for music, my words, and most importantly my voice!” – Instagram – Youtube – Facebook
Eliza Catastrophe – She the hopeful who sings about sardines referenced in the press release above. She was teased at the end of last week’s premiere. Welp. Sardines has an official video. It’s no Fishheads, but there you go. In actuality she’s an indie pop recording artist from Spokane. She’s released an album of songs called You. I suspect she’ll be treated as a joke, but she really isn’t.- Instagram – Facebook – Bandcamp
Jimmy Levy – He appeared on the YouTube series “Best Cover Ever” with Bebe Rexha. He’s got over 30K followers on Tik Tok (formerly musical.ly). He migrated to Tik Tok from vine, so he’s been doing the social thing for awhile now. Also he’s an artist whose work “has been shown in numerous galleries near his hometown of South Florida.” Additionally, according to his bio, he launched the recording label LEG. – (YouTube Series Best Cover Ever – Bebe Rexha Episode) – Instagram – Youtube – Bio
Jonny West – From Murrieta, Calif., according to his Facebook page, Jonny is “a mixture of lyrical hip hop and soulful singer-songwriter incorporating piano playing, lyrical wordplay, and strong voice.” Hm. Maddie Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson from season 16 follow his Instagram. He released an EP Oh and a handful of professional music videos. He tours quite a bit too. His influences are “Nas, Eminem, Hopsin, The Fray, Matt Corby.” UPDATE: Jonny West and Margie Mays are a couple who attend the auditions together. – Instagram – Facebook – Youtube – Soundcloud

As she reached her teenage years she began professionally singing jazz in venues all over NYC. Kay Genyse – Kay is the artist Katy drags out into the street to “sing for your life.” People out in the street who producers recruited aren’t going to boo her. It’s pretty easy to see where this is going. – Instagram Soundcloud Youtube
Kyle Tanguay – Kyle is the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader who brings his squad to auditions. He’s a dancer and choreographer. But he says in a piece from the Eagles magazine that “The opportunity presented itself to audition for American Idol.” According to the article, “The senior at the University of the Arts has an extensive background in dance, but no prior professional singing experience.” Hm. “I sang in high school chorus, very back line of the group. Never did a solo,” Tanguay laughed. “I have never sung even close to professionally in my life. I learned songs through karaoke channels on YouTube.” OK THEN. – Website Youtube
Margie Mays – Y’all remember Margie from season 17. She was the hyperactive hopeful who actually had a good voice, when she could calm herself down enough to sing. Katy had a total soft spot for the way she trilled like a bird and made boxes over her head. She calls herself “Margie 2.o” in the Idol promo. The singer was cut at the Top 40 last season. UPDATE: Jonny West and Margie Mays are a couple who attend the auditions together. – Instagram – Facebook
Sarah Isen – Info on Sarah is a little sketchy, but an Instagram story indicates she is a student at UCLA in Los Angeles. She starred in a production of Little Shop of Horrors on campus. – Instagram – Youtube
