American Idol 2022: See 1st Promo Starring Alums and Auditioners (Video)

American Idol 2022 Promo with Contestants

During The Bachelor premiere Monday night (Jan 3) ABC aired the first promo for season 20 that included contestants. Here is your first glimpse of the talent to come in Season 20.

The 30 second spot opens with a montage of popular contestants. The voice over describes season 4 winner Carrie Underwood as having 7 Grammys and then Season 16’s Gabby Barrett as being Billboard’s top country female artist. Next it’s Adam Lambert, lead singer for Queen. What if they were never discovered, the voice over asks. The clip spares us any speculation, unlike the first promo that aired during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve that imagined the cast in terrible, but humorous day jobs.

The clip finishes with a montage of hopefuls. They are, in order: Leah Marlene (Website), Tristen Gressett, Tyler N. Allen (singing) (Instagram), Brooks Kidd (at piano) (Youtube), Taylor Davidson (green dress, white boots) (Instagram),  Lexi Weege (in denim) (Website, News),  Christian Guardino (with chain on) (AGT 2017), Kelsie Dolin (in backwards cap) (Instagram), Luke Taylor (hugging dad) (Instagram). Tyler closes the clip.

Thanks to staff contributor Blake Busch for ID-ing the contestants.

American Idol 2022 is set to premiere on ABC Sunday February 27. The network will celebrate the 20th season of the landmark singing competition over all, including 5 years on ABC.
