American Idol 2022 Top 24 Poll Results, Rankings, Sched Update

(ABC/Kent Phillips) LIONEL RICHIE, KATY PERRY, LUKE BRYAN

American Idol jetted the season 20 Top 24 along with host Ryan Seacrest and judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan to the Disney Aulani Resort earlier this year to film the Top 24 performances. The two night extravaganza will air  on ABC: Sunday April 10 and Monday April 11. While the show isn’t live the VOTING WILL BE. Fans will be able, for the first time this season, vote their favorites into the Top 20.

After last Monday’s Showcase round, you voted for your favorite contestants. Check out the results below.

*Kenedi Anderson reportedly quit the show after taping the Top 24. Her exit is not confirmed, but there is compelling evidence that she’s gone. Notably, Kenedi has not been on social media promoting the round.

American Idol 2022 Top 24 Poll Results

I was surprised to find Noah Thompson in the Top 2. But he did have a viral moment with his unexpected cover of Rihanna’s “Stay.” However, I expect he’ll make the Top 14, and won’t even need the judges to wildcard him. Otherwise, the rankings seem reasonable.

There are a slew of talented vocalists this season, and as usual, the singers with the most screen time ranked the highest. That’s not a knock on the voters! The show gave the Top singers the opportunity to prove themselves. Sage, Danielle Finn, Elli Rowe, Ava Maybee all have potential, that the show buried. Sage and Elli are two singers I’m rooting for to have strong moments in Hawaii.

  1. HunterGirl – 14.77%
  2. Noah Thompson – 12.03%
  3. Nicolino Bozzo – 10.76%
  4. *Kenedi Anderson – 8.55%
  5. Leah Marlene – 5.47%
  6. Jay Copeland – 5.19%
  7. Christian Guardino – 5.13%
  8. Fritz Hager – 4.48%
  9. Tristen Grissett – 3.85%
  10. Lady K – 3.48%
  11. Allegra Miles – 3.36%
  12. Cadence Baker – 3.11%
  13. Cameron Whitcomb – 2.24%
  14. Emyrson Flora – 2.24%
  15. Mike Parker – 2.14%
  16. Elli Rowe– 2.05%
  17. Ava Maybee – 1.90%
  18. Dan Marshall – 1.77%
  19. Katyrah Love – 1.68%
  20. Sage – 1.55%
  21. Jacob Moran – 1.24%
  22. Scarlet Ayliz – 1.06%
  23. Danielle Finn – 0.99%
  24. Sir Blayke – 0.96%

Morgan Gruber got 84 percent of the “Who was Robbed” vote, which only means that her fans found our poll. Just to prove my point: Morgan got 2,777 votes. Betty Maxwell in second place got 113. Kelsie Dolan, Dakota Hayden, Yoli Mayor ranked after Betty. But the percentages are in the single digits.

There are song spoilers: American Idol 2022 Spoilers: What Did Top 24 Sing in Hawaii? Song spoilers don’t reveal outcomes, so feel free to discuss song choices in comments.

If Kenedi did quit American Idol as rumored, I can’t imagine the show airing her performance. The voting numbers make it complicated. Ryan would have to announce at the top of the show that she’s gone, so folks don’t try to vote for her.

American Idol Season 20: Another schedule update!

According to On Camera Audiences  “Live audience shows begin 4/11/22 with a special Idol celebration through the years with surprise cameos!” OCA is seating tapings for Monday April 11, Tuesday April 12, Monday April 18, Sunday April 24 and Monday April 25.

April 11 appears to be the American Idol Celebration starring fan-favorite alums and more, airing May 2. The April 12 taping is likely for the Top 20 airing April 17. And the rest are probably live shows.

There is another major update to the American Idol season 20 schedule. After Season’s 20 Top 20 (Sun. April 17), Top 14 REVEAL (Mon April 18) and Top 14 performances (Sun April 24) are added : “Judges Song Contest” Monday April 25. (Is ABC trolling NBC’s American Song Contest with that episode title?) And Disney Night Sunday May 1. The info comes from FutonCritic.com, details yet to come.

American Idol 2022: Full Season 20 Schedule (Updated 4/10)

My American Idol Top 5

Producers seem to be gunning for a female winner. The Top 24 are comprised of 14 females and 10 males, for instance. While there are talented male singers in the Top 24, the females are the reals standouts. Thus, my Top 5 is all female!

  1. HunterGirl – HunterGirl could win it all. She’s a talented country songwriter, and as Katy says, her voice cuts right through.
  2. Leah Marlene – Don’t let Leah’s spazzy energy distract! Underneath that fun-loving exterior is a talented vocalist with impressive songwriting and musical chops.
  3. Lady K – The DIVINE Lady K is a sublime and effortless soul singer that harkens back to singers like Aretha Franklin and Billie Holliday.
  4. Nicolina Bozzo – She’s a big voiced singer who understands nuance and conveying authentic emotion.
  5. Sage – Producers have kept Sage under wraps for most of Hollywood. She’s got a throwback style that displays originality. Fingers are crossed for a breakout moment.
