American Idol 2023 Auditions 5 Contestants
American Idol season 21 continues on on ABC Sunday March 26 with the 2 hour Auditions 5 episode. Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan auditioned hopefuls in Las Vegas, New Orleans and Nashville for a chance to advance to Hollywood Week.

In this last week, a few hopefuls bring their supportive dads along to cheer them on, and in some cases, back their progeny on guitar. Notably, Eurythmics member, Dave Stewart plays guitar for his daughter! Also, peep two America’s Got Talent alums this week.

Brooklyn From Brooklyn
Brooklyn Stafford is a 21-year-old pianist from Brooklyn, New York. She is a private piano teacher and also sells sheet music on her website. She has won the ASCAP Irving Caesar Award twice as well as performed at the MET. She recently graduated from the University of Miami with a major in Music Business. Brooklyn has 226K followers on Tik Tok, and her one duet video with Season 10’s Casey Abrams and a Tik Toker named TJ who uses his dryer for beats has 1.5 million views and over 269K likes. She doesn’t often post singing videos, but her singing voice appears to be slightly operatic and theatrical.

Cam Amen
Cameron Osterloh, is a singer from Ocala, Florida, who goes by the name Cam Amen. Cam took home $500 at Showtime in Sanford, a monthly local competition. He also won a duet competition with his grandma, who has since passed away. Cam has a very soulful voice with a beautiful lower range.

Elise Kristine
Elise is a powerhouse and viral Tik Tok vocalist originally from Issaquah, Washington, and now lives in Orem, Utah where she attends Utah Valley University. She has released a few of her covers on streaming platforms including “Rise Up” and “At Last”. She often posts videos of herself attempting high notes that display her whistle note range, in addition to funny music skit videos that include musical impressions. Her parody graduation video of “For The First Time In Forever” has 4.1 million likes and 15.3 million views. These viral videos have built up a following of nearly 612K on Tik Tok.
Fire
Fire Willmore returns after receiving a no from the judges last week after singing “Talking to the Moon” for her audition. Fire has a young daughter who came with to her audition, and all she wants is to give her child a better life. Fire was transparent when asked by Katy Perry what type of dancer she is, revealing that she is a stripper. Hopefully, she gets her ticket to Hollywood, after Katy decided to give her a 2nd chance by allowing her to prepare for another audition in Nashville a month later.
Isaac Brown
Isaac is a street performer and recording artist from Los Angeles. He can be spotted sometimes performing on Hollywood Boulevard. He is a talented dancer, and his singing voice has a slight rasp mixed with dance and R&B sounds. It is a bit reminiscent of Jason Derulo. He has several songs out on streaming platforms including his recent release of a fun dance-pop song titled, “Sayonara”.

Jayna Elise
Jayna may look familiar–she is Jayna Brown from Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. In the judges cut round, guest judge Louis Tomlinson awarded her a Golden Ticket after her cover of “Rise Up.” She ended up making it all the way to the Semifinals that year. She has since released several songs to streaming platforms including her latest soulful dance collaboration with LA producer Kosta Lois titled, “More.” Recently, Boyz II Men reposted her cover of “End of the Road” with Kyng Music, and Avli Music.

Kaeyra
Caroline Baran, more famously known as Kaeyra, is a 21-year-old singer with a long history. She appeared briefly on America’s Got Talent as Caroline Baran in 2018 with the show only airing her audition of “Take Me to Church.” She also has recorded with Postmodern Jukebox, creating several viral videos including her rendition of “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica at the age of 15 which has 8.6 million views on YouTube. The Algonquin (Chicago suburb) native now lives in LA where she attends the Musician’s Institute. She has performed for the President of Poland in Warsaw and at Lollapalooza. Additionally, her original titled “All I Know” featuring Caye has over 540K streams on Spotify. Her soulful voice and talents as a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, bass, guitar, drums, and the flute are sure to impress.

Kaya Stewart
Kaya is the daughter of popular 80s duo Eurythmics member and founder Dave Stewart who also has written hits for Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, and Mick Jaggar to name a few. Kaya had a record deal where she put out her self-titled album in 2016 with hit single, “In Love with a Boy” which entered top 30 at pop radio and was the most-added pop song in one week in 2016. It appears she was dropped after this album. Kaya’s style is a mix of pop, rock, soul, and alternative music. Her dad accompanies her on guitar at her audition.

Mikenley Brown
Mikenley, is a high school student, from New Castle, Indiana, and is from a talented family. She has posted videos featuring her mom, Ashley, and dad, Mike, singing with her. Her dad often accompanies her on guitar at her gigs. In 2020, she posted about the tough year she had, from being homeschooled, to being sick due to anorexia, and dealing with anxiety and depression. This was all due to bullying. It appears her audition will be an emotional one. Her dad also accompanies her at her audition, and after what appears to be a very successful audition, he emotionally says, “It’s like I’m watching her be born again”. Her style is a mix of folk, country, and soul.

Oliver Steele
Oliver is a singer-songwriter originally from Michigan who now lives in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. The indie soul singer performs in the Nashville area and is a Breedlove artist. It appears Oliver performs, “Change The World” by Eric Clapton, and Luke declares in a preview, “I’m convinced this singer can make it to the finals.” Also, it’s revealed that Oliver is the last contestant to audition. Additionally, according to a preview article, Oliver’s dad was a musician named Toby Steele who opened for B.B. King. Oliver says in a TV preview, “my dad is an incredible singer in his own right, but he had a stroke. This is for him.” It appears, according to press photos, that Oliver’s dad accompanies him to his audition. Oliver recently released a cover of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” to streaming platforms.
Phil Kane
Phil is a country singer-songwriter from Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and is a freshman at Belmont University. He won Pawhuska’s Got Talent in 2019, and has competed in several local competitions. His mom is Cyndi “Hyacinth” Kane who is the best friend of TV chef Ree Drummond, also known as the Pioneer Woman. Mom has has appeared on the Food Network and on Ree’s famed blog. ABC previewed his audition. In it, he sings his original, “Osage County” about small-town life. Luke Bryan calls him a “country Jackson Browne”.

Sarah Mac
Sarah Michele Maccar, also known as Sarah Mac, is a rock and soul singer from Carrollton, Georgia. She has performed with Georgia based band, Thud Ehvul and His Advocates in the past. She doesn’t have many clips of her singing out there, but what exists displays a raspy and powerful voice.

Sierra Harris
Sierralyn Harris is a 20-year-old singer who is a native of Newburyport, MA, originally from Lexington, MA. She is the lead singer of Clockwork Maine who gigs in Maine, and has released two songs under Sierra Lyn titled “Done” and “not ok.” In the preview of last week’s episode, it appears she is a big Katy fan and will sing “Firework” at some point her audition, at which point Katy throws something at her. It probably means that Katy liked it. Sierra also has had a few popular Tik Tok videos that features her belting. For instance, a cover of “Electric Love” has nearly 75K likes.
