American Idol 2023 Reveals Season 21 Finale Guest Star Performers
Last week, ABC announced the former judge Keith Urban will appear on the American Idol season 21 finale to mentor the Top 3 and also perform his 2022 hit “Wild Hearts.”
On Sunday’s semi-final episode, The Top 5 performed for America’s vote, and at the end of the episode, Ryan Seacrest revealed the Top 3 moving on to the 3 hour May 21 finale: Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle and Colin Stough.
Also, during the Top 5 episode, which featured a Disney theme, Ryan revealed the list of guest stars appearing on the show. Along with crowing the winner of American Idol season 21, a slew of artists will appear on stage, likely alongside some of American Idol season 21 fan-favorite contestants.
Guest stars include Season 2’s Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard celebrating their 20 year anniversary
The list includes: Pitbull, TLC, Lainey Wilson, American Idol alum Lauren Daigle, James Blunt, Ellie Goulding, Jazmine Sullivan, Jellyroll, Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon frontman), Kylie Minogue, and Season 2 alums Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard.
Ruben and Clay, season 2 winner and runner-up respectively competed in 2003. Next week’s May 21 finale will air 20 years to the DAY of the highly rated finale. The two are currently on a reunion tour to celebrate the milestone.
Back in those days, voting via landline was the dominant way to cast votes. Reports of jammed lines and constant busy signals had fans wondering if the results were actually fair. Clay had a fierce fan following. But in the end, Ruben won it all. Even if some fans hold grudges, the two singers certainly do not. In 2003 while competing on the show, the duo started a life-long friendship.
