American Idol 2023 Showstoppers Round concludes: See who is performing
American Idol Showstoppers Pt 2 will pick up where Part 1 left off Sunday night. Megan Danielle is about to sing her version of Adele’s “Go Easy On Me” after Paige Anne nailed it. The two are pitted against each other in a sing-off. The judges–Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan–will decide if one singer or both go through to the next round. Previously, when PJAE and Malik Heard faced off, the judges sent them both through.
The judges are promoting a Top 24 but a Top 26 will be revealed
As I mentioned in the Showstopper 1 preview, the judges are promoting a Top 24, but our spoiler headlines say “Top 26.” Oops. Sorry to those who don’t want spoilers. But we done spoilt it. Weirdly, it appears in the Showstopper 2 press photos, a bunch of singers are doubled up. And in what will likely be billed as an AMERICAN IDOL FIRST !!! Three singers, Matt Wilson, Iam Tongi and Colin Stough all face the judges together. The trio will probably end the show? In the past, American Idol would have one or two face-offs, which ended the night/round in a dramatic fashion. But this season, the producers went a little crazy with 4 pairs and a trio.
Monday’s Showstopper closer will feature a bunch more singers. I’m guessing there will be a montage of sad nos–more nos than Sunday night. And of course, the remaining Top 26 will be revealed. So far, there is a list of 11 singers who definitely made it through.
The Semifinalists head to Hawaii
Next week, the semi-finalists head to Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii to sing with the band outside on the beach in front of a live audience. For the first time this season, AMERICA VOTES! After a two night semi-final, a Top 20 will be revealed the following week. Check out the FULL schedule, which we are CONTINUALLY updating HERE.
American Idol 2023 Showstoppers Pt 2 airs on ABC Monday April 10 at 8 pm ET/PT
