American Idol 2024: Hollywood Week Begins! Get your tickets for the Showstopper round taping. Here’s how.
If it’s December, it must be time for American Idol Hollywood Week. According to The Idol Pad (@IdolSpoilers on X), The round begins today.
And, according to On Camera Audiences, the Showstoppers round will be filmed on December 11 in California. If you are in the area, get your tickets HERE. Last year, the round taped at the Los Angeles theater. This year, the venue has changed. The Showstopper round will tape at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. The round features the contestants singing with a full band in front of a live audience.
The blurb at the tickets site reads, “On December 11th, American Idol continues its iconic Hollywood Week tradition from Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, celebrating 22 seasons (season seven on ABC) with music industry legends, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest to help discover America’s next singing sensation.”
It continues: “The groundbreaking series launched the careers of superstars Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Gabby Barrett, and Scotty McCreery, among many others.” And if season 3 winner, Fantasia Barrino, is nominated for an Oscar for her role in the upcoming movie, The Color Purple, that will be more bragging rights for the show (and great promotion!)
American Idol will return to Aulani Resort in Hawaii
In the days prior to the Showstopper round, the contestants who survived the Judges Auditions will compete for those Showstopper rounds spots. The past couple of seasons have featured a solo and duets round before Showstoppers. Between 50 and 60 contestants typically remain to compete in Showstoppers for a spot in the next round, which will once again take place at the Aulani Resort in Hawaii. According to @IdolSpoilers, that round (Top 25ish) will be filmed in February, shortly before season 22 premieres on February 18.
Will American Idol bring back the Platinum ticket? Last season, the show promoted a special competition during the CMA awards which allowed fans to vote for a special audience Platinum ticket. That was in addition to a Platinum ticket for each audition city. Platinum ticket holders from the past two season were able to skip the first round of competition during Hollywood week.
But this year, the judges auditions reportedly traveled to three cities, Nashville, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara CA, Tuskegee AL and Leesburg GA. The latter three are the hometowns of Katy, Lionel and Luke. There wasn’t much publicity coming out of those cities. So five platinum tickets this season or no platinum tickets?
First American Idol 2024 promo revealed Hailey Mia and Scarlet Lee as contestants
While American idol didn’t hold any special contests during the CMA Awards, it did air its first promo featuring contestants. The clip revealed that a few familiar faces including The Voice’s Hailey Mia and X Factor UK alum Scarlett Lee auditioned. Hailey finished in fourth place for Team Kelly Clarkson on The Voice season 21 in the fall of 2021. Scarlet finished in 2nd place on The X Factor UK season 15 in 2018.
