American Idol 2024 holds Judges Auditions in Lionel Richie’s Hometown, Tuskegee, Alabama.
American Idol 2024 Judges Auditions round began last month in Luke Bryan’s hometown, Leesburg, Georgia. Now, this week, American Idol auditioned hopefuls in Lionel Richie’s hometown, Tuskegee, Alabama on Monday October 2.
Lionel, Luke and Katy Perry were in town to film the auditions in various locations. According to AL.com Mayor Lawrence F. Haygood Jr. gave the hometown guy the key to the city. The judges also took part in a dedication and tree planting in Hello Park, a green space named after Lionel’s famous song, near his college alma mater, Tuskegee University. The park sits on land that Lionel’s family owns near the college entrance. Lionel is hoping to turn it into “a place for meditation and a place to reflect” on the area’s rich history. Later, the cast were treated to a performance by the Marching Crimson Pipers. They spoke briefly to students after the band welcomed them to campus,

American Idol alums Ruben Studdard (S2 Winner), Taylor Hicks (S5 Winner) and Bo Bice (S4 runner-up) all hail from Alabama. Consequently, the show has visited the area several times to film Top 3 Hometown Visits.
American Idol will hold judges auditions in 5 cities, including the judges’ respective hometowns
American Idol will soon be shooting auditions in Santa Barbara, California, Katy’s hometown (mid-October) And, according to the @IdolSpoilers Twitter/X account, the show will hit FIVE cities for auditions. In addition to Leesburg, GA and Tuskegee, AL, the judges will hand out Golden Tickets to Idol hopefuls in Nashville (mid-November) and Los Angeles (Late October). It’s the first time the show has auditioned in more than three cities since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020.
Last month in Leesburg, the judges held auditions at Luke’s alma mater, Lee County High School. Hundreds of people lined up on the sidewalk ready to catch a glimpse of the judges. Festivities included a parade and pep rally.
American Idol season 22 will premiere on ABC in winter 2024.
