American Idol 2024 Top 3 Polls: VOTE for Who You Think Will Win it All
We are finally here. The American Idol 2024 season 22 FINALE airs LIVE coast to coast on ABC Sunday May 19! Either Abi Carter, Jack Blocker or Will Moseley will win the crown. Now, it’s time to VOTE for who you think SHOULD and WILL win it all.
Last season, it seemed clear that Iam Tongi would take a win back home to Seattle, Washington. Some seasons are easy to predict, and some are not. Season 22 belongs in the latter category. Either the singer-songwriter Abi Carter from Indio, California, folk singer Jack Blocker from Dallas Texas, or country crooner Will Moseley from Hazlehurst, Georgia could take the crown.
Is there an obvious winner this season? (No)
Abi has been popular from the beginning. The judges–Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan–picked her as one of three Platinum Ticket winners, which allowed her to skip the “Idol Arena” round. She is the only one remaining after Julia Gagnon left the competition at Top 7 and Odell Bunton Jr. didn’t make it into the Top 20. She’s had hits and misses all season performance-wise. But when she’s on she’s on! She’s a bold performer and a talented songwriter.
On the other hand, Will has been consistent throughout the competition, with a few tiny hiccups here and there (forgetting the words on Disney night). But his problem–he’s been a little TOO consistent, rarely venturing outside of his Chris Stapleton inspired country soul box. After the judges pushed him, he did begin adding more dynamics to his performances. But he has not undergone obvious growth in this competition. Fans may find his predictability appealing, and it helps that he fits neatly into a popular country genre.
Jack is the dark horse of the competition. After Lionel and Katy said no to his audition and he LEFT the audition room, Luke enlisted the crew to advocate for his return. And since then his trajectory has only gone up and up and up. Initially, he appeared to be a sturdy Americana type folk singer. And he is that! But he also can work the stage without an instrument. And is not afraid to flip songs like Cher’s “Believe” and David Bowie’s “Space Odyssey.” He’s peaking at the right time.
A winners prediction is forthcoming. Maybe I’ll toss a coin!
Coming up next…
The finale! At the end of last week’s Top 5 Disney Night episode (check it out), host Ryan Seacrest announced the performers set to perform. The Top 3 and more will perform duets with popular artists, including Hootie and the Blowfish, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Wynonna Judd, CeCe Winans, Cody Johnson, Seal, James Bey, and Bishop Briggs.
American Idol 2015 winner, Nick Fradiani, who is finishing up a Broadway run in the Neil Diamond musical, A Beautiful Noise, will also appear. Iconic 80s rocker, Jon Bon Jovi will mentor the contestants and perform. The three judges will also take the stage.
Speaking of Idol alums, why isn’t Season 3 winner, Fantasia Barrino appearing to celebrate her 20th anniversary? She’s had a spectacular year, after starring in the movie adaption of the Broadway musical, The Color Purple. She performed on the TIME100 special right after Idol Sunday night (she’s part of this year’s class). Her absence feels like a lost opportunity.
The THREE HOUR American Idol 2024 finale airs LIVE COAST TO COAST on ABC beginning at 8 pm EDT.
