American Idol 23: Carrie Underwood will lead a web series featuring memories of her season 4 run and eventual win
Carrie Underwood will not only be judging hopefuls for the first time as a brand new judge on American Idol, but the season 4 winner will concurrently lead a web series titled Idol to Icon.
Each episode of Idol To Icon will cover different aspects of the competition. According to Deadline, it will rollout throughout the season, timed to the airing of the current season. In other words, as singers are in the midst of Hollywood Week, Carrie will recall her experiences during her own brutal round. As Top 24 contestants vie for a spot in the next round, Carrie will share her own experience as a Top 24 contestant. In the last episode, she will share her finale memories and how she felt during her winning moment.
In a preview, Carrie shares a passage from a journal she kept during her run on the show 20 years ago in 2005.

“I know I have some great things ahead of me now, I’m just trying to live in the moment and appreciate it all”
She writes, “I just have to keep in mind that it will all be worth it and the life I have started will be great.” She continues, “Most importantly, I have to remember that this is all been my choice and something I have wanted since I was a little girl. I know I have some great things ahead of me now, I’m just trying to live in the moment and appreciate it all. I never dreamed that all of this would happen to me. I love it.”
She doesn’t mention at what point of the competition she wrote the passage. It sounds like, at the time, she understood that she could win the show, so she’s giving herself a pep talk. Watch it below.
During the webseries, she’ll read more from her journal, while also covering the fashion she wore and “behind-the-scenes confessional moments.”
Carrie will join veteran judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest for American Idol season 23 (8 on ABC). American Idol premiers Sunday March 9 at 8 pm ET/PT. However, a special 30 minute preview will air right after the Oscar telecast on Sunday March 2.
