American Idol alum Caleb Lee Hutchinson announces his debut album ‘Southern Galactic’
Caleb Lee Hutchinson, American Idol 2018 runner-up to winner Maddie Poppe, has announced the release of his long-awaited debut album.
“I am absolutely overjoyed to announce that my debut album “Southern Galactic” will be all y’all’s 10/27!” the country singer posts on Instagram. “The first singles “Silverado” and “Good at Being Bad” are available for pre-add/pre-save now and out 9/29! (9/21-9/28 exclusively on the @playcountrystar app)”

The singer continued, “It has been many years of immeasurable highs and crippling lows. It wasn’t all that long ago I was really considering giving up. Lots of prayers prayed and tears shed,” Caleb shares, “Through the love of God, my family, my friends and all of you, I am feeling better than ever as both a man and an artist.”
“This record encapsulates this period of my life and making it was the most rewarding and gratifying things I have ever done,” Caleb writes. “Thank you to a true hero of mine, @titanicsinclair for producing this record. Thank you to my team for working so hard and believing in me. I hope you all love it as much as we do. We did not come to take part, we came to take over. Southern Galactic.”
The announcement includes a snippet of a new song.
Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe started dating on American Idol, and broke up in Fall 2022
During their run on American Idol season 16 back in 2018, Caleb and Maddie began dating. The two broke up in the fall of 2022. Maddie recently revealed that she’s dating a new guy. For her part, Maddie shared in an interview with a local Iowa radio station, “That relationship (with Caleb) I still have a place in my heart and I have nothing but love and respect on that side of things…”
Previously Caleb has released two EPs–The five track set Slot Machine Syndrome in 2021 and the horror film themed Songs I’ll Never Play in 2022.
