Last week, American Idol 2018 Top 24 contestant Ron Bultongez was charged with having sex with a minor.
Now, more details are emerging about why he was charged. The season 16 singer allegedly sexually assaulted a 16 year old girl numerous times. The Grapevine Texas native worked as a vocal coach and the victim was a client.
Bultongez raped a 16 year old while her mother bathed his son
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, a songwriting session at Bultongez’s apartment was among the occasions during which he raped the victim, police alleged. He was 24 and 25 when police allege that the crimes occurred.
During the session, Bultongez asked the girl’s mother, who also was in the apartment, to watch his 3-year-old son. While she gave the boy a bath, and with the bathroom door closed, Bultongez took the girl into the living room and sexually assaulted her, dressing when he heard the faucet turn off, she told authorities.
Sexual assaults also took place in Waxahachie, Ennis and Austin between October and February, according to an affidavit supporting the case written by a Grapevine police detective. The girl’s mother reported the sexual encounters to the police in May.
Bultongez also assaulted the victim during a party with his pregnant fiance present
During a question session with an Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center forensic interviewer, the girl described a Christmas party at Bultongez’s apartment in Grapevine. His pregnant fiance was among the people who attended. During dinner, the girl’s mother asked her daughter to retrieve a bottle of wine from a vehicle.
Outside, Bultongez, who accompanied her, grabbed the girl’s buttocks as she reached into the vehicle to get the wine bottle. They got into the back seat of his vehicle, and he sexually assaulted her, according to her account described in the affidavit.
He kept Plan B contraception in his night stand
Bultongez got a Plan B pill from his night stand and gave it to his victim after she expressed concern about getting pregnant. Three days later, he went to her house and give her a second Plan B pill.
There is another documented incident, where Bultongez and the victim drove to his house to get equipment after a music session. He held the girl up against the wall, according to the affidavit and then moved her to a bed and sexually assaulted her.
The victim said in the interview that in March 2021 she told Bultongez that they could no longer have a sexual relationship. He stopped coming around.
He warned the victim not to tell
Bultongez told her he could go to jail if she told anyone of the sex. It would be her fault, he explained, according to the affidavit, because she could not keep it a secret.
On the show, Ron seemed like an intelligent, soft-spoken and thoughtful guy who really loved his family. But if these allegations are true, he’s basically a sociopath. What a world.
